Explore something new

I’ve taught classes with quilt guilds, at quilt shops and at national quilt shows. My teaching philosophy is to provide a relaxed, stress free atmosphere, where everyone can have fun. I like to show students different ways to approach a techniques to they can find the way that works best for them.

I meet students where they are and gear classes to appeal to all levels of quilter, from beginner to more advanced. I provide tips and tricks to help students confidently move forward with their sewing and quilting. I encourage students to do it their way and hope to spark their creativity. Classes are hands-on and interactive. And a whole lot of fun!

I'd love to visit and share my designs and techniques with you. While almost any of my patterns can be turned into a class, here are a few of my more popular classes to give you a few ideas.

Fun with Braids: A "Goof-Proof" Braided Table Runner

Half Day Class

Learn to cut braid pieces with the Braid Template and sew using my goof-proof method while making this fun and easy table runner. Table Scraps is a great pattern for using up some of your scrap strips. The braid is a creative technique to add to your quilting toolbox. You will be amazed at how many uses it has.

Pack It Up Bag: Make a fun and functional bag!

Full Day Class

Creating a braid with the Mini Braid template can add a decorative touch to any bag! Students will learn how to cut and sew braids, to use cork fabric (optional) for the bottom and a simple method to add zippers. They will leave class with a cute and functional bag! The pattern has 4 different size bags; in class we will be making the medium size bag.

Spiral Galaxy: an easy paper piecing block!

Full Day or Half Day Class

Paper Piecing Phobia? Learn an easy way to paper piece while making this simple block! Once you have your blocks made, the quilt can be made to look different just by rotating the blocks! In the half day class we get right to making the block and students get tips on paper piecing. In the full day class, we add in a lot of discussion about color and how color placement in your block impacts the quilt.

Breakout - A Modern Log Cabin

Half Day Class

The Log Cabin block is so versatile; a classic block with many ways to change it up. In this class students will get basic tips on getting that good ¼" seam allowance, chain piecing and more! All while making this modern block. Once you have your blocks made, we will discuss block placement in the quilt. The quilt can be made to look different just by rotating the blocks!

Class Supply: all students need a Breakout pattern. $12

Picturesque

Full Day Class

Start with a pack of 5" squares and plant a garden with this fun flower block. Students will learn ways to make Half Square Triangle units and get tips on that good ¼" seam allowance. We will discuss color choices and how to enlarge the quilt into the Gardenesque version with borders! Quilt is from the book Smash Your Precut Stash.
