Hi friends!
The Island Batik Ambassador challenge for June was to create a curved pieced quilt.
Curves.
Have you done a lot of curves? Do you like to do curves? I love how curves look in a quilt but I have not done a lot of them. So definitely a challenge!
I started with this charm pack of lovely IB fabrics.
There were lots of purples, some pinks, greens, blues… a really nice variety. And I had some white Sprinkles fabric. So I had fabric.
Now I needed a design. I remembered I had a couple of templates for a nice New York Beauty block. I paired a purple with a green, made 4 pairs and then got started sewing.
Have you heard the phrase- quilting makes the quilt? In this case, boy is that true! The small runner looked OK- I had to scale it to match the amount of white fabric I had- and it looked a little sparse. Though I really like quilts with white and space in them.
So I grabbed some pretty green Aurifil thread and did some curved quilting.
So much better! Now I love it!
What do you think?
Does the quilting make this little quilt?
Don’t forget- this Saturday July 1 starts Fiesta De Azucar! I can’t wait to see our first skull block.
