Hi friends!
Today is my day on the Batiks Go Retro blog hop. Welcome!
First, what is Batiks Go Retro? It is the new batik line for Island Batiks created by Tammy Silvers of Tamarinis. She is just so talented! It is a really fun line using a color palette of aquas, oranges, purples and blues mixed with mid-century inspired sunbursts and other whimsical shapes. And on her blog she shows you some really great patterns she made with her fabric. So be sure to check it out!
What did I do with her fabric? Well, she had asked some of us to create small projects to show at Quilt Market back in the spring. So I used her line to make my new pattern, Moon Flower Mini. It was so cute, it became the cover quilt!
Moon Flower Mini is the small version of my bigger quilt (I am still working on that pattern!). It is a little piecing and a little appliqué. I chose to fuse my appliqué shapes in place. Works like a charm and it is quick and easy. I also like to stitch around them when I am done. I just like the look.
There are 2 sizes in the pattern. Here is what the second size could look like.
Do you have a favorite fusible that you like to use? I have a couple. I really like my fusible to lightweight and I prefer one with the paper backing since then I can draw on it. Just my personal preference. So SoftFuse is my “go to” fusible.
But one of the other hoppers, Susan Emory of Swirly Girls has a new fusible product out called Barely There. And it is awesome as well. And you can run it thru your printer.
How do you feel about a giveaway? There is an awesome giveaway going on with this hop; Island Batik and Aurifil teamed up for some cool prizes- thread and fabric of course! If you have not entered yet thru one of the other posts, you can click here to go to the Island Batik post and enter using the raffle copter widget.
I have another giveaway for you as well! Just leave a comment on this post and one lucky winner will receive the Moon Flower Mini pattern!
Giveaway closes at midnight MT Sept 23rd so hurry up and leave a comment to be entered to win!
Giveaway is closed. Thanks to all who commented and entered!
