Hi friends!
This week we have something fun for those of you who like (or LOVE!) Craftsy! Or maybe you have been thinking about taking a Craftsy class, but just haven’t yet. I am sure you can find a class you like this week. We have some super Craftsy instructors who are going to tell you about their class and maybe give you some great tips along the way!
Today is my day on the blog hop, so let me tell you a little about my class, 3 Blocks, 30 Quilts.
In my class I share some tips and techniques on some of the basic skills that are essential to good piecing such as pressing tips and how to get a good ¼” seam. We all hear we need to have a good ¼” seam but I show you how to set up your machine and how to test your seam.
What are my favorite go to tools for a good ¼” seam? I love the Perfect Piecing Seam Guide by Perkins Dry Goods and the Sewing Edge Reusable Vinyl Stop by Marci Baker for Qtools.
In the class I also cover different ways to make HSTs, QSTs and even those long triangles that some call Peaky and Spike.
While doing that, you learn to make 3 different blocks, and each block can make up more than one quilt. How? By changing up the setting! We give you lots of ideas on different ways to set your blocks- 10 options for each block! I also talk about color options, ways to find inspiration and we even include coloring pages in the class materials so you can figure out how you want to make the blocks and quilts. How fun is that?
One of the quilts in the class Huey Louie, I originally made in blues and greens with a pop of orange. But I really want to make a new version so I have been collecting yellow and gray fabrics to make a Huey quilt that looks totally different!
So that is a little about my class and what you can learn. For those of you who have not taken a Craftsy class yet, the classroom never closes. Once you purchase a class, you can watch the class as many times as you like, whenever you like. And you can post questions and I will answer! And sometimes your fellow students will answer. It becomes a nice community. So I hope to see you in the Craftsy classroom.
Here is the schedule of the blog hop this week so you can learn more about the different instructors and their classes. Don’t forget to visit my friend Jackie today and learn about her class, Paper Piecing the Quiltworx Dresden Plate!
Here is the deal we have for you this week. Click here on my link to go to Craftsy and purchase any of the instructor’s classes- and they are on sale!
