Post Quilt Market and a book review

November 15, 2018July 8, 2020 Post a comment

Hi friends!

Well another Quilt Market has come and gone and now we are into the holiday season! How did that happen?? I am afraid at Quilt Market I fell down on the job of taking pictures. I meant to do selfies with some of my quilty friends, and take pictures of the quilts on exhibit … but to be honest, I never even got to see the quilt exhibit. I was pretty much just in my booth!

Here is a picture of my booth and my cutie patootie daughter who was my helper.

Here is a quilt made by Kathy Doughty that was hanging in her booth by Free Spirit using her fabrics and my Braid Template!

Love her fabrics!

Once I got home, it was days of printing and packing and shipping.

Then I headed off to the Monarch Quilter’s Guild in Salida, CO. They were a fun bunch but the ride thru the canyon in the snow was not! But I made it so all is good.

Now time to get back on track and make some fun stuff. I can’t show you what I am working on right now; it is a remake of my Tribeca quilt using a new fabric line for Michael Miller by Sandra Clemons. But it will be awesome (if I do say so myself!) and as soon as I am allowed, I will give you all a sneak peek!

Did you see this post of mine on Instragram? This is Miss Lark posing with my Pack it Up! bag made in Jackie Kunkel’s new line called Feline Fine. She put herself right in the middle fo the photo shoot!

I have been very lucky to get a copy of the book Modern Patchwork Home to review.

When you get a book to review, there is always the worry that you won’t be impressed. Not a problem with this book! Love it. There are sew many great modern projects in here by different designers.

There are small projects like the Reflected Wedges Runner by Jacquie Gering.

And the Make mini quilt by Angela Bowman. Isn’t that one fun? I want to make that for my sewing area.

There are also quilts- I love the log cabin style quilt on the cover: the Modern Log Cabin quilt by Tara Faughnan.

Another favorite is the Module Quilt by Christine Barnes.

Color choice makes such an impact in these quilts. Quilts that have a clever, modern take on what might be considered traditional pattern, such as the log cabin block and the nine patch block, really appeal to me. And the book has directions that are easy to follow. Which means you don’t have to be an expert to make these quilts.

And I love love, love the pictures; even if you don’t ever make a single quilt, the pictures are wonderful. I want to decorate my house to look the the pictures in the book! Vivika Hansen Denegre did a wonderful editing this book and I would recommend it to any quilter.

Next week on the blog is the Border Quilt- we will all get to see if I managed to catch up! And the following week will be the Pixel Quilt blog hop! So much fun stuff.

Have a great rest of your week and a wonderful weekend!

happy quilting,

Kate
