Hi friends! How was your week?
Mine has been pretty busy. I am working on some new quilts and been sewing with my pedal to the metal. It is snowing again today which makes it a great day to stay inside and sew some more!
Last year I mentioned I wanted to do a BOM- or a BEOM- Block every Other Month! I still haven’t pulled that together since I made so many quilts last year but, there are a lot of fun BOM programs out there right now, so I wanted to share a few links with you, just in case you haven’t see them yet.
I picked 3 to share:
Pat Sloan is doing a 2016 Mystery BOM called My Secret Garden. The first block looks like a lot of fun and I pulled a FQ pack that I snagged at Quilt Market from Moda called Valley by Sherri & Chelsi. I will need additional fabric as the year goes along, but it is a great way to get started!
For block 1, I picked this group of fabrics. What do you think about them? I will share my made block next week. (I still have a quilt top that I HAVE TO GET DONE today!) Click here to go to Pat’s site and get started on your block 1.
Amy Gibson of Stitchery Dickory Dock is doing a new Sugar Block Club BOM this year and it is free. She is taking classic blocks and giving them a tweak to make them fresh and modern. It looks like a lot of fun and I like that she is including some history of the block as well.
I had a partial stack of fabrics from Windham of the line called Snippits and I decided to use them as a starting point. I have a fun white tone on tone print from P&B to be the consistent background. So this is my group of fabrics for my Sugar Block Club block 1. Click here to get started with her BOM.
Last but not least, Reese Hanson from Morning Glory Designs has a free Seminole Sampler of the month. Her blocks/rows are free each month, but if you don’t download January’s row during the month of January, then it is $5.00.
Click here to go check out her site, see her design and get January’s row (look for the line that says: You may get this row for free during the month of January 2016 here. CLICK HERE -I almost missed the free link!)
Do you know of any other free BOMs that you are interested in? Want to share? Leave a comment and let the rest of us know what you have found.
OK- back to sewing for me- I hope to show you my 2 blocks next week. I am not even going to try to do all 3 (though I am tempted)!
happy quilting,
Kate
