Hi friends!
Today is the day for Block 2 in the Adventure in Color Quilt along!
Tammy will have some tips for you on this block over on her blog.
Today I want to show you my block and talk a little about color for this Quilt Along.
Our Luminous Quilt Along Quilts
Tammy and I created very different looks for this quilt along. I went with a light, almost summery version and Tammy used blues and greens popping off a dark blue background.
Dawn and Dusk.
Our Quilt Along Blocks
For my version of Block 2, I used a rose and a bright yellow gold along with a medium purple.
The block is named after Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn, whose colors are rose and saffron. She represents the hope of a new day! My block reminds me of a morning sunrise when the sky has a little bit of pink and yellow just as the sun comes up over the horizon.
Tammy’s block is the night sky.
Did you notice that different aspects of each of our quilt along blocks stand out? It is because of where we put the light and dark values. My purple is a dark and her purple is a medium.
But wait! They are the same color, purple! I love how a fabric can change value depending on what other colors it is next to in a block.
Quilt Along Color Flip
How about a fun flip on colors?
What if I had used a dark background? Maybe a dark purple?
Or Tammy had used a light blue one?
There are so many fun ideas on how to mix up the colors for this quilt along. Have fun making your version of Block 2!
