Sewing Room Tips: DIY Sewing Storage Containers

July 1, 2020July 1, 2020 Post a comment

Hi friends!

Happy July! How are you all doing? How is your summer going? I have been laying low, just working away but I hope to get in some fun summer activities in this weekend. Maybe a walk at a garden or in the foothills.

Sewing Storage Containers and Organizers

I want to show you a few new things in my quilt studio courtesy of a couple of my quilty friends. Aren’t quilty friends the best???

A few weeks ago, I shared fun patterns, created by some of my talented quilt designer friends, for things you could use in your studio.

Click here to see that post.

A while before that post, I had sent Kris (of Poorhouse Quilt Designs) and Joanne (of Fat Quarter Gypsy)  some batik fabrics to play with. They are from my signature line Tiki Punch (designed for me by Kathy Engle of Island Batik) that will be in stores in November.

And look what they made me! Kris made me a Scalloped Basket.

And Joanne made me a Sew Organized AND a small Pop Up! How fun is that???

These will be sew much fun to use in my sewing room. I already have the Sew Organized partly filled up with tools that I like to keep on my cutting table. When they are organized and nearby, I can just grab what I need when I need it! No searching around wondering where I put it.

The Pop Up will be great by my ironing board to catch all those pesky threads and clippings.

And I still haven’t decided how I want to use the scalloped basket. It is so pretty… should I store loose spools of thread? Nope. If I leave them out on the table the cats will play with them.

And yes, Luna started playing with the thread 30 seconds after I put them in the basket. She tried to carry one out of the basket in her teeth! That kitten is sew much trouble!

Or maybe as I am sewing, I can put the units in my DIY sewing storage containers to take back to the cutting table.

Or it could sit on my shelf, looking pretty as if it was just a decorative piece but  is actually a working item that is storing my remotes.

Hmmm… so many ideas! What creative things have you made to double as working storage in your studio?? Show me pictures! I would love to see.

happy quilting!
