Hi Friends!
Today I am chatting about Sail Away, one of my “new” patterns and a low key quilt along I am hosting.
Sail Away quilt pattern
I put the term new in quotes because, it is not a brand new pattern but I pattern I have updated and refreshed so it feels new!
The original pattern was made for a line of fabric from Northcott that included a panel. So that was the focus of the original pattern. And shops have used it since for other fabric lines that have a similar feel or a similar panel.
Sea Cookies Batiks
But once I had designed the Sea Cookies batik line, I just knew I had to update the pattern and recolor the quilts! I mean, a quilt with sailboats and a line called Sea Cookies- it just had to be done!
First I made the lap quilt with all the boats. I love how there is one boat that is not quite the same! Adds a little fun to the design.
Crib Quilt
Then I made the crib quilt using mostly the blues from the line. So stinkin’ cute, right?
Now, I want to make the crib quilt using mostly the pinks from the line. It would look like this.
I don’t need the quilt for anyone right now but I just can’t resist!
And, the fabrics are all available over at Hancocks of Paducah! I ordered a couple of the prints that I am out of. Yay! Click here to see the all fabrics over at Hancocks.
Low Key, non structured, Sail Away Quilt Along
OK- anyone want to play along with me? This quilt along is super low key- in fact, I am not sure how long it will take for me to make the quilt and I don’t have a set schedule for posts but … the plan is I will post on IG/FB as well as I will update you on my progress here. And you can tag me on IG or FB if you start your own quilt!
I hope to start cutting my fabric this weekend once I get back fro a trade show!
Just in case you want to make your own version of the quilt, here is a link to the pattern.
happy quilting!
Kate
