The summer season is upon us. Both Kate and I love the beach, shore, ocean – whatever you call that wonderful warm sand and the lap of water.
Kate is on her way back from Nantucket Island, having spent the weekend with her book club friends from Connecticut. Next week I head out to Myrtle Beach for a week with three generations of family. First time sharing a large house. My family has some great traditions that are a must – miniature golfing tournament and shark’s tooth hunting. Trophies have been made for those winners and there has been Facebook smack talk about who is going to win – and that’s from the adults!
Today I went to the Annapolis Quilt Guild annual quit show. Beautiful creations. Here are the “beach” themed quilts:
This was called Sea Glass and the other is called Octopus Garden.
And the final (and best!) beach quilt is the one that Kate made for me for my birthday. Since I live in Annapolis and blue crabs are our specialty, Kate’s machine quilter, Crystal, actually created a template for a crab. Look closely! How fun is that!!!
Do you have a favorite quilt shop near a beach or have you made a beach quilt or is there a shop that you must make a diversion to on your way to a vacation? I am admitting to a small collection of beachy fabric.
Have fun in the sun!
