Hi friends!
Last month I posted about my friend Kris Poor of Poorhouse quilt Designs. She is a talented quilt maker, designer of moldable projects and a bag maker!!
Better Bag Series
Today I want to share links to her Building a Better Bag Series of posts. She has so much great information related to making bags on her blog!!!
Bosal Foam
Kris loves to use Bosal Foam products in her bags. She started a Building a Better Bag series, to address using foam in projects.
Lately, she’s been using the Novel Approach bag pattern to talk about basic bagmaking techniques and the tools and notions to try for good results.
These techniques can apply to any bag or tote you like to make; if you have a favorite pattern and want to use foam instead of the interfacing used in the pattern, start at the post called Successful Fusing with In-R-Form Foam Products, which discusses the various foam products available and how to decide on which one to use.
Click here or on the image above to read her post!
She goes into a bit more detail using the double-sided fusible In-R_From Plus in the Fusing Foam post.
So much great information!!!
Cross Hatch Quilting
One way to add interest to a bag is with quilting. For some easy quilting texture, you can try the double cross-hatch here, in Building A Better Bag – Easy Quilting.
Bulky Seams
She also discusses some of the bulky seam issues that you can run into when making a bag and how to overcome them in the post titled Handling Bulky Seams.
I know bulky seams can be an issue for me so I will have to check it out!!
The blog series
Here is a link to her entire Building a Better Bag series (so far):
Kris intends to keep adding to this series, to serve as a library of ideas for bag making. Be sure to check out her posts!
Kris is sharing a post about me and my Exploring the Basics series of blog posts here on her blog! I have a ton of information here on my blog on the basics of making a quilt and different blocks. Just use the search to check them out or click here to scroll the entire series of posts!
Next month, Kris and I have something fun planned for you!
happy quilting!
