Border Quilt Quilt Along week 4

October 26, 2018July 8, 2020 2 comments

Hi friends!

Today I am posting my progress on the Border Quilt. Hmmm…

Time for a little honesty here. I am not done with this week’s border. I am deep into Quilt Market prep and just can’t keep up.  I thought I would show what I am doing for the border and hopefully next time the border will be on!

We can’t do it all. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just have too much on my plate and then I get overwhelmed. That happened this week. I want to be the kind of person that looks for the silver lining, so I am trying to find the good in the midst of all this craziness.

With this quilt pattern, Jen writes, if you want a quilt this size, stop with this border. Or keep going for a bigger quilt. So I decided to step back and take a look at my quilt and decide how big I wanted it to end up.

Here is my good. I also decided that just because I am working on Jen’s pattern doesn’t mean I can’t come up with a creative way to make it work for me, right? I decided I wanted the quilt a little bigger, but I am really pressed for time. So for this border of friendship stars, I decided to only make 4.

Yup.

Just  4.

I will put one on each side and then just use some background fabric to make the rest of the border. A great compromise and an idea we can all employ when we just don’t have time. I don’t need to be perfect and I don’t have to make the quilt the way Jen did. I can come up with a creative solution and just make it work! Sometimes giving ourselves permission to not do it all can be a great relief.

Here is how far the stars are right now. Not too far but we can only get so much accomplished in a given time and we need to remember to keep a good balance in life.

And Kira says it is time to play outside right now. So that is where I am headed. Outside with the dog and I will work on the stars soon.

Kira ready to get going!

I will add an updated picture to this post as I get more done. In the meantime, take a break. Enjoy the fall. Get outside and breath the air.

happy quilting!

Do what you can, when you can and don’t sweat the small stuff!! So, will your stars be symmetrical or asymmetrical??

      Susan,
Good question! I am still debating that… I always first go to the symmetrical and orderly but then… you never know! I like the idea of asymmetrical.
