Hi friends!
I really could say this time- Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Or chicken fabric anyway!
So without further ado, the winner of the McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine and fabric is…
Deborah! I have emailed you to get your mailing address.
In other news, I spent 2 days last week taking classes. My first class was with Sue Bleiweiss and we made our own versions of her 3 house quilt. I did not want to make 3 houses, so I changed mine to a house, a lighthouse and a row boat!
I still need to add all the rest of the black outlines and bind it, but it was fun to do.
And it was really fun to see what everyone made in class; they were all so different. I think that is what is so much fun about taking a class. Even when you are all working on the same project, between fabric choices and design changes, they all become our own unique project!
On Saturday, I was able to take a class with Denyse Schmidt on Improv piecing. We were tasked to just draw fabric from a bag without looking add it to our block- no editing! Again, so fun to see how everyone’s blocks were so different.
This was my first block.
And then we added one consistent fabric to the blocks- as much or as little as we wanted. Everyone did something different and it was neat to see how it affected the final outcome of the blocks.
As much as it was a challenge, I really tried not to look in the bag and pick my fabric and to not put any fabric back. It was tough! But knowing I can be picky, it was good to just relax and let the outcome happen. I also let the fabrics be whatever shape they were which ended up giving me some fun curves to piece with a couple of the blocks.
And in case anyone was wondering about the answer to the question I posed in the newsletter last week- am I front of the class person or a back of the room person… I am actually a back of the room person. I like to see what happens in the whole room. I hate people talking behind me and if I am in the back, I can see everyone and see everything that goes on.
Have a great week!
happy quilting,
Kate
