I am back in Colorado. I got back late one evening last week and it took a few days to really get back on track. Time change, altitude change… I always seem to need a few days.
I guess I am getting old!
Nah…
On my last day in Connecticut I finally made it to my happy place- the beach. I love the beach.
I am not picky; while a beach with beautiful, soft white sand and clean aqua blue water is the best, I will take a rocky beach over no beach at all. And while I prefer the ocean, a good lake is just fine.
Really, I just love being by the water.
Do you have a happy place?
Yesterday I was chatting with a lovely lady in a quilt shop and she was mentioning that she was going to go camping soon. She said she was getting cranky as she had not been to her happy place in a while- the woods.
Now, going to the woods sounds nice too, but it would be even better if there was a lake nearby!
Just an FYI, in the interest of full disclosure- some of my other happy places include quilt shops and book stores.

Later this week there is a quilt shop hop going on, the Rocky Mountain Quilt Fever Shop Hop. Friday- Sunday, August 7th -9th. Pop over to their website to get the details.
On Friday, I will be at Fabric Expressions doing a book signing from 10am- 12n and again on Saturday from 10am – 1pm.
I will also be demonstrating how I made the braids for one of the quilts in my book Smash Your Precut Stash. So be sure to pop in and say hi!
Later this week, I will post a new giveaway.
In the meantime,
happy quilting!
Kate
I stumbled on your blog through a series of connections I’m not sure I can unwind to describe. Anyway, it’s nice for me as a former Coloradoan to see quilting and designing flourishing in my favorite state. I moved to Pennsylvania 18 years ago, but my heart is still west. Congratulations on your patterns being published in Quiltmaker and McCalls. Please keep posting on your blog so I can see more of your work!
