I tried.

July 9, 2013July 30, 2020 4 comments

So, here is the current state of my socks.DSC07521

Turns out, while attempting to knit Continental style while making the sock, I discovered I had dropped stitches.

Way down at the beginning. Luckily, I really wasn’t too far along.

So I guess I will try again. And maybe NOT knit continental. It just seemed easier around the three needles than throwing. Though, I admit to having more trouble controlling the yarn. Oh well, wish me luck on my next attempt!

How do you knit? Do you throw or knit Continental?

DSC07522In the meantime, I have some quilting to do!

happy quilting,

I’m still going with the switch to continental. I don’t drop stitches (not without noticing, anyway), but I have to work slowly and pay attention, especially to the tension. It’s kind of slow, but I’m not bothered enough to go back to English yet.

    Lots of love!

sorry your sock knitting’s off to a bad start … keep trying! i throw, working at the tips of my needles. i should say needle; i use one 32 inch circular needle for making my sox two at a time. much easier to keep track of the numbers, no one sock syndrome, no lost needle or ladders and they can be worked from the toe up or the top down with ease. you work in the round, one side at a time … there are many free and easy tutorials out there!

I have heard about using circular needles and knitting two socks at once- wasn’t sure if that would be easier or harder! At this point, the “no sock” syndrome is an issue! thanks for the tip- I will check out the circular needle technique.
