Corn and Beans Quilt Block
This month’s block for the August Quilt Block Remix is the Corn and Beans block.
The block has a large center QST unit surrounded by HST and FG units.
To get started, I decided I wanted to use a blue and white color scheme, similar to what the block already had in our example block. I thought it would be fun to explore how to make it different using similar elements and similar colors.

First Remix of the block
As I looked at the block, I saw the rounds of triangles – the light blue, then the dark blue, then white and then yellow. I wondered how it might look just changing it to make a gradation of color.
Would that change, by itself, be enough of a change to really change the look of the block?
I tried a gradation of color from light near the center to dark at the outside.
Pretty cool.
And then I played with the reverse.
I like the 2 colorations but now to me, the center feels too large. It seems to be taking over the block.
What do you think? Is it OK as it is or does it need more of a change?

Here is a quilt with the light center to dark blocks.

Not bad but… well, I don’t like the center of the block now.
I think I am going to have to add some new lines to the block. I could just leave it, but I am not going to!
Maybe it was silly to think I would only change colors and not add or delete any lines!!!
