Hi everyone! I am so excited for you to meet the newest member of the Dream team, my amazing daughter Alyssa! Though, to be honest, she’s been an unofficial member of the team since Day 1. She’s been a color and design consultant, pattern tester and editor, and booth babe extraordinaire. But now, we have made her the official third member of the team, bringing youth, vitality, and a unique perspective to our crew.
So here she is!
Hey there! I am so excited to be introducing myself as the newest member of the Seams Like A Dream team. If you’ve seen us at Quilt Market before, or live in Connecticut, some of you have already met me.
As Kate’s daughter, I have been around the business since she and Elizabeth started it many years ago. Back then, my main jobs were folding patterns and stuffing them into the little plastic baggies, and following my mom around so she could teach me how to sew, too!
Well it’s been a few years since they started this business, and I’ve grown up a bit since then. Now my main jobs are outside of Seams Like A Dream- I work on an organic vegetable farm in Connecticut, and during the winter (because, really, New England in the winter) I work for an arts and crafts store doing custom framing.
I just got married this past summer, and my husband and I bought an adorable little house for ourselves and our two cats, Huey Louie and Daisy Mae (do those names sound familiar?). It’s been a busy time for me, and I am thrilled to be adding in Seams Like A Dream to the bustle!
I will be doing a lot of behind the scenes work here: editing patterns; selecting fabrics; updating files; etc. But I will also be popping out now and then to connect with you all both on the internet and in person. I will be joining mom and Elizabeth for as many of the Quilt Markets and other conventions as I can. We are in the process of setting up a new Instagram account, so keep on the lookout for that.
And every now and then I’ll be poking my head out here in the blog to chat with you all, not only give you updates about what I am up to, but to see what you are doing as well.
I am so inspired by what other quilters are working on. I have been sewing for a few years now, but I still feel like such a novice, and I can’t wait to jump into some new projects and grow as a crafter.
