This time of year everyone is always so busy. Between Thanksgiving and all the cooking and baking to Christmas and all the decorating and shopping… it can get a little overwhelming, even when you enjoy it.
That is what happened to me this past week with designing. Overwhelm. I love designing. Like writing, some days it comes easily and some days it does not. But that is OK; it is part of the process and usually it eventually comes. This past week, I have had a few designs due and it has not come easy. At all. I don’t know why.
Or maybe I do. I have been working non stop for weeks. Actually for a few months. And I have not taken the time to smell the flowers as they say. I think I needed a recharge.
Yesterday I had a business meeting and the woman I was meeting suggested we meet at the Botanic Gardens instead of in downtown Denver. What a great idea!
We wandered around outside for a little while and then sat in the cafe to chat.
Even in the winter, or late fall, the gardens can inspire. So pretty, so peaceful. And they have lights intertwined in many of the trees and shrubs. Hubby and I will have to go back at night to see. I bet it is beautiful.
Take a little time each day for you. To recharge. To renew your spirit. It is not easy; we don’t take the time for it. We say we don’t have the time. But take it, claim it and own it. You deserve it! And you will be better at doing what you need to do if you take a little time for you.
Over the next 2 weeks, I am participating in 2 blog hops. The first is put on by a group of Craftsy instructors. Some of them have new classes up and they want to promote them and give you a deal. So next Monday look for my post and a link for a great deal and a chance to win.
The next blog hop is about a new book from C&T Publishing that I have a quilt in. And ON! My quilt is on the cover of the new book 75 Fun Fat Quarter Quilts! There are 13 quilts and 62 variations in the book. You could win a copy of the book!
These blog hops are fun- you all get a chance to see new things and a chance to win stuff. That’s why I do them. And they are fun for me too!
Next month there will be another one, but that is all I am going to tell you!
Schedule: this Saturday Dec 5th, I am going to be at Ladybug Hill Quilts in Colorado Springs for their Janome Owners Luncheon. I will be signing my Smash Your Precut Stash books, selling patterns, chatting about my stuff and just having fun. I will be there all day so pop by if you have time!
Next week, I will be at A Quilter’s Choice, the new APQS store in Littleton on South Gallup St for their Grand Opening celebration. I will be there Friday and Saturday from 11am-12 noon signing books and visiting with people. Don’t miss it!
OK- I have some designs to improve and some fabric to cut and sew so I better get cracking!
happy quilting,
Kate
At the Botanic Gardens, they had this fun section by the greenhouses decorated with the 12 Doors of Christmas! I can’t tell you which was my favorite..
the 2 turtle doves…
the 3 french hens…
so much fun!
Just an FYI- right now Craftsy has another (!) promotion going on called their 12 Days of Christmas sale. Have you thought about giving an online class at Craftsy as a gift to a friend or family member? That would be a great gift unless you are not sure what class they might like.
No problem! Here is your chance to GIFT any class. Click here to use my link to purchase a gift card for your friend, family… or maybe yourself…. Only good Dec 1-12th during Craftsy’s 12 days of Christmas Sale.
