Fat Quarter Patterns

A class, a discount and a new pattern! Woo hoo!

June 29, 2016July 22, 2020 11 comments

Hi friends!

How is your summer going? Yesterday was pretty warm here- up over 90 degrees, which depending on where you are, may seem hot, or may seem NOT hot as it is even hotter where you are … still, it felt pretty warm to me!

Probably it felt warm because I like to sit outside on the deck when I can and get work done. I love being outside; while air conditioning is great for cooling off, I feel like I am trapped. So there I was, sitting at the table on the deck with Miss Lily hanging out with me in her favorite chair. I think she was covering her eyes from the sun with her paw!

So, what’s new?

A bunch of stuff!

First off, my class on Craft University goes live in less than 2 weeks. Wow! Seems like I just taped the class the other day.

Pillow Pile!

In the class, I show you how to make some really fun pillows, a table runner, placemats… Easy fun projects to spruce up your living space! We cover different piecing techniques and they are all fun and easy to do.

So hurry on over to Craft U and sign up!

Second, I have a new pattern out! This one has a great backstory. You have heard me mention my friend Crystal who is a very talented long arm quilter. A few years ago, she was in a quilt bee. They had a challenge; everyone had to pick a theme. She picked “Brights and Solids” as her theme. Then they exchanged fat quarters. So you were supposed to give everyone a fat quarter that went with their theme and then they had to make a quilt with their fat quarters.

Crystal mostly got brights, but she got this one pale lavender fat quarter. Almost lavender, a little gray… not bright. Not a solid either. So she was not sure what she was going to do! She debated, she procrastinated, she debated some more and then suddenly it was time! All the challenge quilts were due to shown at the local guild meeting in a few days!

So she embraced the lavender, bought more, made HSTs as big as she could to piece a top quickly and then did some AMAZING free motion quilting all over the quilt. It was a hit!

She and I have now been to several quilt shows where we have the quilt draped over the table and everyone wants the pattern. So I finally convince Crystal to let me write the pattern. I added 2 sizes and they are each Fat Quarter friendly!

And here is the pattern: Zig ZagNoli!

New quilt pattern- ZigZagNoli!

Crystal’s last name is Zagnoli and since the design goes zig and then zag… what better name could we have for it?

Her quilt is a nice bed size at 84″ x 98″.

Here is my version – a lap size at 56″ x 70″. I used some really fun fat quarters from a line called Blush and Bloom by Melissa Ybarra of Iza Pearl for Windham Fabrics.

For my version, I had Crystal do some straight line quilting in alternating intervals. I love the look.

And here is a crib sized quilt that Crystal made- 36″ x 45″.

Look at that quilting! Wow!

The best part of the pattern? We have figured out all the math for you- so all you have to do is pick some really fun Fat Quarters and get going! Color options are really endless.

Your new pattern is cute and I love how you and Crystal showed two ways of quilting it. Both versions are very nice, thank you for sharing.

What a great use of color … and I love the straight line quilting on yours, also.

Love the simplicity of the straight lines in your zigzagnoli quilt! Yet the quilting in the others are divine! This pattern would be a nice quilt for beginning longarmers (like me!) to practice stitches on!

Zig Zagnoli what a versatile pattern, with something for everyone! (The quilting was superb, by the way). From everything I’ve seen (videos, promos, Craftsy), I can’t help but look forward to your new class with Craftu.
