Hi friends!
It’s time for the April Quilt Block reveal!
April Block
To recap, this month the designers were remixing and revamping the traditional Flower Basket block.
This is a fun blocks with lots of HST units.
My fabrics
I decided to play with my Breezy fabrics. These are the ones I used in my block.
I just love this line; it is my most recent batik line with Island Batik. Here is the entire line! I shared more about it in this post from last month.
My Process
I had no real plan with this remix; I was trying to keep the original idea of the HST as the flowers and then more triangles as the basket. I just wanted it to be even more abstract.
That was my first pass with mixing it up- using all HST units and mixing up the basket color into the and with the flower colors.
I even tried it with my fabrics.
But I wasn’t quite happy with it. So I kept playing.
My April Quilt Block Reveal!
So I kept moving colors around and then finally … ta-done! Here is the new block!
I like this one. And here is what it would look like as a quilt!
And yes, it does create a secondary pattern! You know I love that!
This month I named the block after the street I am living on: Timber Hawk.
In case you missed it, I am naming all the blocks this year after streets I have lived on. Last month was Ingram Street- the first street I lived on! Click here to see that block.
The Block Pattern
I did create a pattern for this block! It has 2 sizes in the pattern, a 6″ block and a 12″ block (finished sizes). Click here for more information!
I hope you like my latest block remix!
happy quilting!
Kate
p.s. Next month I am speaking at my local quilt guild and I will be teaching a class on how to approach remixing and redesigning a quilt block! I haven’t done that before; it should be fun!
