Hard to believe we are heading into July this week. The weather here today was great; sunny and warm; perfect summer weather. I delayed taking my walk today; I thought I would walk this evening since it was not supposed to rain. But the clouds are rolling in now, so we will see what happens!
Hard to complain though as I sit here on the deck, writing to all of you. Since the sun is being partially blocked, and a light breeze has kicked up, it really is very pleasant.
I recently completed a few projects, which I don’t get to show you yet, but I can show you this one- which is a work in progress. I am remaking our cover quilt from the book. The quilt is called Sassy 16.
I am actually making 2 of them; one for me to have to take along with me when I do book signings and guild lectures and one for fun. The first one will look almost exactly like the cover quilt. Same jelly roll, a white background and similar border fabric.
The second one I am making from my scraps of blue fabrics. Well, mostly blue. And white because I LOVE quilts with white backgrounds. I am using a lot of leftover whites in the blocks with the squares and I am using one fabric in some of the alternate blocks. I have run out of what I have in whites, so I will have to go shopping.
Bummer.
Here are a few other things I have worked on lately. I designed a few patterns for P&B Textiles and they are up on their website. My friend Kirstyn Cogan has designed a great new fabric line called Urban Scandinavian and it will be showing up in stores soon.
I designed one quilt using her “colored” side of the line and one for her “black and white” side of the line. I called them Colored Pieces and Urban Ink. Click here if you want to access the free patterns.
Well, I hope you have a great last few days of June!
On Thursday I am guest blogging again on the McCalls Quilting blog and I will post a link to it here as well.
happy quilting!
