Hi friends!!
I can’t wait to share this new batik line with you called Garden Gate! The line has some really fun rich, deep colors and prints. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Garden Gate Batiks
The batiks were inspired by a late winter or early spring visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens. I couldn’t see too many flowers but I could really appreciate all the architecture, the paths, the benches and the bright blue sky…
Horizon quilt
This quilt is a little bit modern!
It uses a 10″ square pack and lots of HST units. I love how it is not perfectly symmetrical.
We used some great wavy lines for the quilting running horizontally across the quilt. Very fun!
Fence Line quilt
This quilt is one where you make the same block.
A lot! But you get good at it by the end!
For the quilting on this one we did these different sizes circles that overlap here and there… the blocks are so so linear I thought the circles would a little softness. I love how the different elements in the blocks combine to make a few different secondary patterns. Almost like a plaid with the blue and green rectangles and then white angled rectangles and sashing make a lattice overtop.
Dresden Star quilt
This one is ambitious! A few years ago, for the block remix challenge, I created this block starting from a Dresden Plate block. You can see the original post here.
I’ll share more about this quilt in another post soon, but here is the quilt!
I don’t usually create designs this complex but a few people over the years have asked for the pattern. So here she is. And yes, this quilt pattern is paper pieced!
For the quilting we did another circle pattern but this one is a set large circle with smaller circles surrounding it. I like that it kind of mimicked the design shape.
Braid Bags
Whenever I have a new fabric line, I always recreate some of my favorite braid projects in it!
Bring It! is my new favorite bag – a trio of three cute little bags. One size is perfect as a pencil bag and the others can hold small tools or items that might usually get lost!
Carry This! is a great crossbody bag and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it came out in Garden Gate. Did you know the pattern includes this cute little (optional) storage bag as well? You just use the leftover strips for it!

These fabrics are perfect for the Denver Botanic Gardens, especially your Dresden Star Quilt. Have you ever gone to their Blossom of Lights? It’s an annual gift to the gals in my family from my dil’s mom. At the end of the tour is a field of light rods of various colors that “dance” to the music being played.
