I am great! I took a class yesterday thru the local quilt guild, ACQ, with Mickey Dupre. I went with my quilting friend Wendy- we had a lot of fun and we met a lot of great people.
The class was on her pieced hexies- am I really the only person who has not tried hexies?
Of course, our runner/baby quilt in McCall’s Quick Quilting had hexies- but that was different. Those we cut and fused! Easy peasy!
GIVEAWAY ALERT!
By the way, did you leave a comment on my blog post the other day to be in the drawing for a free McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine?
Hurry!!– I draw a name tomorrow morning!

Anyway, back to class. Mickey was a lot of fun and her lecture the night before at guild was great! Inspiring, amusing…
As a teacher, I really like her style. She goes with the flow; she has her way to do things, which she shares, but whatever works for you is fine with her! I like teachers like that.
It is always hard to know what fabrics to take to a class like this. You may think it is weird, but this is usually when I try to choose a color combination that I might not normally gravitate to. I figure most “class” projects are ways to learn a new technique and until I am sure I really want to make the whole project, why not experiment?
I bought this fabric at the quilt show last week- I like it, but they are not colors I would normally go for. At least not all the colors are in my norm! I think it is the gold color that throws me off. Looks orange in this picture, but in person, it is more of a gold.
Then I grabbed some of the hand dyes my friend Marcia and I have made and thought- why not?
Here are my partially finished hexies.
I haven’t done handwork outside of bindings for a while- all my appliqué recently has been fused. It is fast, and easy, but I do like handwork. I forgot how much!
Round Robin update: this week, Becky talks about sashings for your blocks, so go here to see what she is up!
Craftsy update- did you see the news? It is Craftsy’s 3rd birthday!!! And they are having a flash sale- up to 50% on selected classes. Click this link to save big this weekend! Click now- this weekend only!
A big thank you to all the quilters who have already signed up for my Craftsy class- I am so glad you are enjoying the class and i can’t wait to see your quilts!
OK- back to sewing for me- we have two new patterns coming out next week at Quilt Market and I guess I better finish the samples!
Sewing, quilting, and binding- oh my!
