Hi friends!
With the launch of our new ReImagine patterns that use orphan blocks, Kris and I took a stroll down memory lane—straight into our studios. What did we find? A stack of old, leftover, unused, and slightly sad orphan quilt blocks that never quite found their moment.

Instead of letting those blocks sit around any longer, we decided to kick off the new year with a challenge: use them up. And of course, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun without inviting you to join us!
The ReImagine Series for Orphan Blocks
The ReImagine Series includes 8 patterns designed specifically to help you turn leftover quilt blocks into beautiful, functional sewing projects. These patterns are all about seeing what you already have in a new way—and finally giving those orphan blocks the finish they deserve.
We’re especially excited to share the projects we made using the 4 newest ReImagine patterns. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be posting photos of our original orphan blocks alongside the finished projects they became. It’s been such a fun and creative process, and we hope it inspires you to dig into your own stash.
First up we will be making a new version of the ReStore bin! Click here or on the image below to open a new tab and check out the pattern.
Join the Finishing School Challenge
We’re challenging each other—and you—to turn orphan blocks into finished projects!

To participate:
Complete a project using a leftover or orphan quilt block – NOTE- it doesn’t have to be one of our patterns, make anything you like! But if you do use one of our patterns, we’ll give you an extra entry!

Use the hashtag #finishingschoolchallenge
Tag @katecollerandesigns or @poorhousequilts
Deadline to enter: March 4
If social media isn’t your thing, you can also email either of us a photo directly—we still want to see what you make!
Prizes!
Everyone who enters will be in the running to win one of two Fat Quarter bundles:
Kris is giving away a Timeless Treasures FQ bundle
Kate is giving away a batik Fat Quarter bundle – it will be similar to the one shown below from my Garden Gate line- 18 FQs in total!

If you’ve got orphan blocks tucked away in a drawer or bin, now’s the perfect time to pull them out and ReImagine what they can become. We can’t wait to see your projects!
Happy stitching,
Kate
