Hi friends!!
Today I want to share with you sneak peeks from my new book! Squee! (Cue the balloon drop)
I wrote a book about braids!
Sale information is at the end of the post.
Making Braids
Those of you have been following me for a while know that I love making braids. They are just so much fun. To me, they are just so relaxing to sew. Simple sewing with a truly great result.
My first braid quilt pattern was in my book, Smash Your Precut Stash and that me started down the path of making more patterns and projects using braids.
And making my braid templates!
My best selling pattern is the Pack It Up! bag that has a braid accent strip.
That bag has also been popular class that I have taught at guilds and quilt shows.
The New Book
So a while back I was chatting with people from C&T Pub (who are the publishers of my first book, Smash Your Precut Stash). They encouraged me to turn in a proposal for a book on braids and after a lot of work, here we are! The new book is in production and will be out in late January 2025.
Meet Patchwork Braids!
A labor of love.
Don’t you LOVE the cover? A lot of color! Hubby and I even laid out the projects and took the pic for it in my sewing room back at the apartment. We did good!
This past year has been a lot of work, submitting the proposal, designing the projects, writing the patterns, making the projects…
The Book Techniques
The book has 4 technique chapters: each one with 3 projects focusing on a specific type of braid.
The first one is on making a basic braid. Like the cover quilt!
Then we progress to making braids with strips of varying widths, then adding squares to the center of our braid and then some projects with different types of pieced braids.
There are quilts, bags, placemats, table runners, pillows – all sorts of different size projects exploring different braid techniques. As you work through the projects, you will become a braid expert!
Project Names
Each of the projects are named after flowers. I tried to match the name to the project. Maybe it was based on the color of the fabrics chosen, or the overall feel of the quilt.
In the case of the quilt Pink Impression, it was a little of both!
