This month Tammy Silvers and I restarted our Quilt Block Remix Challenges on Instagram. We did them for 2 years in 2021 and 2022 and took most of 2023 off! But, they are back!
Quilt Block Remix Design Challenge
What is the Quilt Block Remix Design Challenge? Each month Tammy and I pick a basic quilt block. And then we challenge other quilt pattern designers (and ourselves) to remix the block! We post 4 times during the month on Instagram (and I also post to Facebook).
And this time I am going to try to post the same content here each week for those who aren’t on Instagram or Facebook!
Post #1 is about introducing the original block and the fabrics we have picked for our remixed block. This month the block is called Alabama Variation.
My January Quilt Block Fabric Pull
The original blocks has 3 fabrics and one decision I made for my remix is to stick with the same number of colors! That was hard as I wanted to add more! But that is part of any challenge- decide what parameters you will stick to!
I chose 2 blue fabrics from my Sea Cookies batik fabric line. And a basic off white.

Just for fun, I have shown what the original block would look like win my fabrics.

As for my remix of the design, well… I guess you will just have to wait and see! I will share more about the redesign next week!
