It’s time for the June quilt block remix challenge and this month we are remixing the Monkey Wrench quilt block!
The Monkey Wrench Quilt Block
The block is also referred to as the Snail’s Trail block. So many quilt blocks have multiple names!
Whatever shall I do with it?
The Fabrics
For my fabrics, I decided to pick from my Breezy fabrics. This is my new line from Island Batik and I just love it. It is in stores now! And I have this pile of scraps and thought why not grab from them?
Plus most of my other fabrics is all packed up for the move….
The original block only has 2 fabrics but I will probably use more. Maybe all of these… we’ll have to see how it goes!
The Design
In looking at the block, I really liked the center 4 patch and wondered what I could do with that. It is on point and I thought it might be fun to duplicate it.
I tried that, but not really feeling it!
Then I added some more color to the block but still it’s not quite right.
Sometime I like to keep to the basic structure of the block but add to it, or maybe tweak it a bit. Other times, it is fun to use the block to create something totally different by focusing on one element in the block. For this remix, I am starting by focusing on the center 4 patch but I am not sure it will work out. I will need to try a few more adjustments and see what I can come up with.
The Plan
Since this is a super busy month for me, with moving to CT and all! so I am only posting twice about this monkey wrench quilt block remix.
