Hi friends- welcome to September!
How are you all doing? Any plans for the upcoming last official weekend of summer?
I don’t have anything planned; I think I need to work on that!
But, I have a lot of fun stuff planned for September.
First some news.
Elizabeth has decided to “retire” from Seams Like a Dream. I think she is ready to spend time working on personal projects and less time shipping!
I am going to miss her; we have been partners for a long time. But I wish her well and hope to take on the shipping part without missing a beat.

Next, it is time for another magazine giveaway. This month’s McCalls Quick Quilts has one of my quilts in it. It also is on the cover- see it at the bottom of the quilt stack?
Back when I was thinking about the issue, knowing it would be fall, I thought I should do another fall quilt. I have always liked Sandy Gervais’ fabrics- and Alyssa loves pomegranates, so I thought what can I do to combine them?
This is the result. It is simply called Pomegranates and it is a fun mix of pieced blocks and appliqué.
And at a generous 84″ x 88″, the quilt is big enough for a full size bed or to cuddle up with a friend on a cool fall afternoon!

McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine is my favorite! I usually find at least 3 or 4 projects I’d like to make in each issue. Your quilt shouldn’t be so hidden on the bottom…it’s gorgeous! I’d be so happy to have my own copy of this issue! Thanks!

Hi – I just discovered this blog and I like your quilts, and their designs. They aren’t same-old-same-old, but have snap and interest, with a comfort level that grabs me. Sooo, it looks like I’ll just have to “invest” in a book or pattern or two. Your new book “Smash Your Pre-Cuts” looks really inviting, because of the large size of the quilts, that means we really can make a dent in our stashes! Nice work!

Kate, let’s see if lightning will strike twice. I have enjoyed looking through the Sept/Oct issue I won. I have already purchased material to make Kathy Flowers’ Strawberries and Cream pattern and will eventually make your Autumn color quilt, too. I also like your pomegranate design. That triple border frames the pieced and appliqued center nicely.
