Have you had a good week? I was a little under the weather earlier in the week and am still feeling the effects but I did get some sewing in- so all is good! Here are my 2 BOM blocks for January. I had decided to do Pat Sloan’s My Secret Garden Mystery BOM and Amy Gibson’s Sugar Block Club BOM. I hope to keep up with both all year.
This was the fabric stack for my January block for My Secret Garden.
And here is the block.
The fabric stack for my January Sugar Block Club block.
And the block.
I am not sure I am happy with the green and light lavender – the lavender seems a little soft, but I think I will keep going with other blocks and see if the combination of blocks as I go along pulls it together. I thought about changing the black and the green locations but didn’t because the black and the lavender are both dots but maybe that was silly… Well if I decide I don’t like it, I can always do it over!
So, are you doing a BOM this year?
This week I have been also trying to work on a new quilt. The fabrics are adorable. The line is called Lily from Timeless Treasures and of course, once I saw the fabrics (and the name!) I had to use them.
Aren’t they sweet? But look what my iron did!
I was not even using water in the iron, but it still spit gunk on my pretty HSTs! I hope I can get it out. And that it does not do it again.
Here is my question- what iron do you use? Do you use steam? I stopped because my old iron would spit wet gunk on my blocks. And because of the stretching factor if the fabric got too wet. But …. I got gunked anyway! Yuck.
Well wish me luck that my iron behaves itself and does not ruin any more beautiful HSTs on me. And leave me a comment with any suggestions for a new iron or helpful tips on how to get gunk out of a block! Thanks!
happy quilting,
Kate
