This past weekend Alyssa and I went to NY to The Joyful Quilter quilt shop. What a great shop! If you are in Glenville/Schenectady area, you should definitely pop in.
On Friday night, we did a trunk show lecture and a book signing and then on Saturday we had a class and everyone started a Picturesque quilt.
We had a lot of fun. In our class, we had some pretty new beginners and Picturesque is quite the quilt for a newbie! But they all did great. We had local quilters and some visiting quilters in class–2 were from Florida! We had a mom, daughter and grandma take the class together.
Here is a smattering of just some of the blocks. I forgot to ask permission to use pictures with the quilters in them, so these are some of the ones with just the blocks.
Aren’t they great? I love the variations. Some of the quilters used their stash, one group all used the same fabrics but varied where pieces went, and one quilter used the same charm pack as some of the other ladies, but picked totally different fabrics to go with it!
One year ago today, my daughter Alyssa married a lovely young man, Jeff.
Happy 1st Anniversary to Alyssa and Jeff!
I am headed home to CO in a couple of days but first I am going to see a few more friends, check out a couple of quit shops and, hopefully, visit the beach! I love the beach and I have yet to get there on this trip. Yesterday it was raining early on and then just cloudy, hot and muggy and now this morning, it is raining again! I know they need the rain, but I need to go to the beach!
When I was younger, I actually liked the beach on a cloudy day. It was always less crowded, the waves were fun- a little stronger due to the weather and the sand wasn’t too hot to walk on. Hmmm…. maybe I will head over if it stops raining!
Have a great week everyone and …
happy quilting!
