Hi Friends!
Tammy and I have a plan for a new series of blog posts. We are going to continue with our Exploring the Quilting Basics series, but in addition, we are starting a new series of posts, aimed at the beginner quilter explaining essential quilting terms.
We have had some questions along the way about terms quilters use and so we thought it would be fun to explore some quilting terms and do some posts defining what some of them mean.
Thus the new series of posts:
A Quilter’s Alphabet: Exploring Quilting Terms for Beginners!
Our first post will be in 2 weeks, Sept. 23rd. We will start with the list of the essential quilting terms with the letter A. There are so many terms in the quilt world, we will define a few each week based on a letter of the alphabet. We won’t hit all the terms for the letter. Just a few key ones.
Tammy and I will each post explanations of different terms so we won’t be repeating the same information.
And some letters may be skipped (anyone have a term for us starting with the letter X?) or some letters may be combined. We want to make sure each post has a few different definitions!
Recently we asked for suggestions for terms on Social Media and feel free to suggest terms for us. You can leave me ideas in the comments.
Next week in the Exploring the Basics series we are posting about the Shaded 9 patch. See you then!
happy quilting!
Kate
How about “Xtras” that are worth their weight in quilting. They go beyond the basics like the oversize ruler mats, Martelli tilting table, project boxes, etc.
Cynthia,
Xtras! Great idea.
Thank you!
