Hi friends! Today is the Broken Glass Blog Hop!
Broken Glass
What is Broken Glass? It’s a beautiful batik line from Island Batik, designed for Kathy Engle for Swan Amity Sheridan of Swan Amity Studios and it’s landing in stores this month!
To help launch this happy line of fabric, I have joined a group of innovative designers to bring you an exciting list of ideas for smaller projects that make use of this beautiful batik.
My Projects
I didn’t get a chance to play with the fabric (bummer!) but I thought it would be so amazing as pillows. I have 2 pillow patterns that use my mini Braid template and that is such a fun way to use small pieces of a line!
First pillow is my HeadRest pillow.
Doesn’t if look good?
If you are local and want to make this pillow with me, I am teaching it on March 4th at The Quilt Store in Broomfield!
My second pillow is called Snuggle Up and it is also just so fun to make.
Sometimes it is hard to see what the pillow really looks like when all you see is a flat image. Pillow aren’t flat!
Here is what my original Snuggle Up! pillow looks like. The quilting really adds to the design.

I love your pillowcase patterns! And the multicolor fabric is my favorite!
Oh, those aquas!
I am all about Aqua — in this collection and in most fabrics! I especially like the print on the far left of the second row. That snuggle up pillow is beautiful!
I really love the 5 inch tile purple wisteria because it offers me a fussy cut option when I’m planning a project.
I love all of the colors but especially the aqua and the blend of colors in the next row.
I love the Oranges! And I am not usually an orange person. What a lovely collection!
Those lighter rainbow colors (aqua & yellow) are calling my name. Wow! on your pillow.
I love the fabric and ESP the aqua pillow.
I like the multicolor prints.
My favorite color for everything is always AQUA. The Snuggle Up pillow is gotgeous!
I love, love the aquas and purples! The bright clear colors of the batik collection remind me of sea glass…
Love the purples!!
I love all the multicolored designs, especially the circles.
How can you pick a favorite, they are all gorgeous! I do tend to lean to the aqua though. The colors just all seem to go together no matter which ones you use. Love your pillow-the quilting does make it stand out!
Love the Aguas. Drawn to the darker multicolored also.
Purple is my favorite…love these fabrics but having trouble finding them
the pillow is beautiful! Right now I am drawn to the Aqua, teal shades
Love all the colors, but blue is my favorite!
Loved your mountain design and the colors.
Would like to work with dark purple yet need help with colors that would blend Wittgenstein dark purple.
Spellcheck gave a title to the word purple. ????
Love love love the purples! Actually, I love the whole collection. The pillow is awesome too.
I cannot wait to start a quilt with these fabulous fabrics!
I have been trying to warm up to batiks for years. love the end results of most projects using them, I just have a hard time putting them together. So Kate your braid templates (which I recently purchased both of) will surely help me blend some batiks together in a project. Something along the lines of your suggle pillow .. and even though I have been collecting oranges and lime greens forever. I have recently moved onto yellows which are so hard to come by, so I would have to choose some yellows or multi colors in that collection.
Aqua would be my favorite color. And I love those braids. Need to make some!
I love your pillows, the colors are so HAPPY! I would have to say my favorites are the light colored multi colors. I love how they can match the bright and cheery colors of your pillows. Mid winter I am always looking for bright cheerful colors and these ratios are gorgeous!
Purple and Aqua are at the very top of my list for favorite colors always!! Cute pillow:)
My favorite batik color is the watery-looking aqua or teal.
I love this entire collection but especially the multi colored ones. Your braids and your mountain patterns are amazing with these fabrics!
My favorite fabric is the purple in the top left corner. I love your patterns!
It’s those purples that grab my eye…all of them! It’s a lovely collection all put together!
I so love the Foothills pattern. I lived in New Mexico for 10+ years and really miss the beauty of the mountains—my first thought when I saw Foothills was how perfectly it reflected the colors of the mountains as the Sun progressed through the day. The Broken Glass collection is perfect for it. I particularly love how the multicolored fabric fits in as a transition.
This fabric is so pretty and you used it perfectly. Love your pillows. I like the multicolor, but it was a difficult decision!
I like them all but especially the lighter multicolored ones.
I admire your designs so much, the creative way you use fabric as well as the awesome new batiks. I’m a new quilter always looking for something I don’t see anywhere else. thanks for being unique. Michele
I adore the aquas, but really love how to you used the fabric in the foothills quilt. Lovely
Love the purples in this collection. Purple and aqua are one of my favorite combinations. Your pillow patterns show the fabrics beautifully.
I am all about the orange
This batik collection is fabulous! The multicolor one with mosaic circles pulled me in immediately. Also love the log cabin-ish orange one. Can’t pick a single color – love them all!
Lovely fabrics especially the aqua!,,
Oh I love your snuggle pillow! I love purples so those are my favorites – lovely fun line of fabric!!
I love all the colors but the multicolored fabric second from the right in the bottom row is my favorite. They look amazing in your Snuggle Up pillow pattern.

I usually go for the teals but these purples are really calling to me! Your mockups are beautiful. Thinking I need to add these to my project list!
I, who have never liked orange all my life, have really warmed up to this glowing color. It’s your oranges I like the best!! Not to make the others jealous, they are all beautiful!
The range of gold to orange are my favorites. Multicolor ones not as much. Like your Foothills recolor!
THe dark multicolored is my favorite
I really like the multi-color. And the pillow is darling.
I like the light “yellow” batik blend.
I like the Foothills pattern. It’s on my list to quilt one day.

It’s a gorgeous collection of batiks but the purples are devine!
The multicolors are so pretty – and versatile.

I really like the light multicolored fabrics, so much can be done with them!
I love these batiks!
I like the spice. But Caroline them all.☺☺
Batiks are some of my favorites. I find a way to incorporate one or more into most of my projects.
These are beautiful and have my mind spinning with possibilities.
love the aquas!
I love the aqua that looks like mosaic circles but would probably purchase the entire line if I came across it in a quick shop. I love your mini-braid pillows too!
All the colors are gorgeous, but I like the aqua’s best. Love the pillows.
Batiks are my favorite and these are just beautifuln
I may be too late for the contest, but I love the yellow/orange color, for some reason they seem to pop out at me this year. I didn’t see your first quilt, but the re-make looks great!
