Chalk Hill Blue Fabric Giveaway!

July 16, 2025July 22, 2025 171 comments

Hi friends!

Today I have a fabric giveaway for you- fabric from my new quilt Chalk Hill Blue! Giveaway is closed!

This is part of my ongoing Christmas in July theme- doing giveaways, hosting quilt alongs and a block party!

Chalk Hill Blue Fabrics and Quilt

I introduced this quilt, Chalk Hill Blue a couple of weeks ago here on the blog- you can read more about it here.

Top US quilting blog and shop, Kate Colleran Designs, shares about the Chalk Hill Blue fabric and a giveaway! Image shows a pieced quilt made from fabrics of teal, orange, light blue and white fabrics.

The fabrics are from QT Fabrics and they just came out last month! The line is called Dahlias at Dusk.

Making the Quilt

I don’t always get to play with the fabrics when I design a quilt for a fabric company. Often the quilt pattern needs to be completed before the fabric is out and shipping to stores.

But for this quilt, QT shared some fabric with me – enough to make the quilt and I have some leftovers for me to share with you!

The Fabric Giveaway

Here is the group of fabrics I have left: a range of 1/4 yard of 1 fabric to 5/8 yard of a few fabrics.

The giveaway closes Tuesday July 22nd at 9pm ET. I will email the winner and if I don’t receive a reply in 2 days, I will pick another winner.

Wow! Those colours and tiny patterns really complement each other. The peachy orange and that soft turquoise colour along with what looks to me like an emerald colour is atruly good colour combination. The white makes it fresh as a whole. The pattern seems fairly easy and to me really does the trick.

Now venturing into my second attempt and the best part for me is choosing the colours and arranging them to match or to contrast, just the adventure of seeing what works!

I really like this pattern. I wonder if you could shift the blocks to end up with 2 full blocks running horizontally rather than 1/2 – 1 – 1/2.. I don’t think it would be as interesting or look as good, but quilt patterns make me wonder things like this (I’m a beginner).

    Hi Kate
Thanks for your inspiring website and Blog!
I love the Dahlias and dusk fabrics.
I am new to quilting and design and I’m not a natural for combining colors in a pleasing way. Also I’m learning that the size of the blocks and piecing makes a huge difference. I love layer cakes for a quick quilt, but you really need to stand back to appreciate the design!
I’d love to win a set of these fabrics
    Thanks again!
