Hi Friends!
It’s time to reveal my 2024 February Remix Challenge Quilt Block!
But first, let’s recap.
The Original February Quilt Block
In post 1, we started with the Raspberry Cheesecake block.
I really liked the block! But it was time to see what new block we could make.
Early Changes
Here are some early changes to the block… I started making changes to the center of the block.
Then in post 2, I decided to try out some variations in the fabrics I chose from my new Winged Things batik line!
And in last week’s post, I ended up here. The corner details meant that there would be a secondary pattern created when the blocks came together.
I was close but not quite done!
February Remix Quilt Block Reveal!
This is where my block ended up!
I wanted to add a little more interest to the center of the block so it also had movement and the opportunity to create secondary patterns.
I was a fun block to make!
I admit that Jack came out a few times… and my center is not perfect but I really like the new block!
Quilts using February Remix Quilt Block
What will the block look like in a quilt?
Here is the block in a quilt setting with 3 borders. And all the blocks oriented the same way. You can see how the corners create a fun second block look? It almost feels like these blocks are set on point; but they aren’t.
And it feels so soft, so springy! Can’t you just imagine all the early spring blooms coming out?
What happens if we rotate every other block? It changes the look of the secondary pattern created by the corners- the same fabric match up now.
But also the center of the block now creates another secondary pattern. In this version with the minimal contrast between the 2 light center fabrics, it is almost hard to see it, but it’s there.
In this version of that second quilt, I changed one of the center fabrics to the border fabric to add more contrast but still keep the soft, spring look.
This version only uses 4 fabrics but what a fun look!!
Which quilt setting is your favorite???
The Quilt Block Pattern
As I mentioned last month, I am going to try every month to create a PDF only pattern for the quilt block so you can purchase and make your own version!
The February Quilt Block is called Orchard Court! I am naming the blocks after streets that I have lived one (only the ones with good names!) and this is a street I lived on as a child in my hometown.
And this pattern has the option to make a 6″ block or a 12″ block!!!

Thanks for following along this month as I played with the Raspberry Cheesecake quilt block and remixed it into a new block!
Next week, we will start the next Block Remix Challenge!
happy quilting!
