Hi friends!
Today I want to introduce you to my new, modern flying geese quilt pattern, Compass!
Flying Geese Quilt Pattern
I really love flying geese quilts. The sense of movement and energy from flying geese units really appeals to me!
When I was designing this quilt, I wanted the units to head in different directions around a central spot.
To me, it really does look like the geese are flying north and south, east and west. Hence the name, Compass!
The trickiest part was trying to decide which fabrics I was going to use. I kind of wanted the geese to go from light to dark and maybe even have the lightest geese blend into the background just a little.
Because I used the darkest color in the center, your eye is really drawn into the center of the quilt and then it slowly moves outward. To me, the center of the quilt is the start of whatever journey you are embarking on. And then, as you pick a direction and head out, the geese get lighter and less distinct – kind of like the end of the journey, because when you start, you never quite know where you might end up!
Of course, there are many great fabrics in this line and I could have made it using the warmer colors!
Whichever way you might head, to the warm colors or to the cool colors, this flying geese quilt pattern is here to take you on a journey!
