Hi friends!
Mother’s Day is coming up in a month and I thought it would be fun to share a few ideas for making a Mother’s Day gifts for quilters!
Could be for your mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend… any mom who is a quilter!
Mother’s Day Gifts for Quilters: Mug Rugs
Many quilters make quilts, but often give them away and sometimes they don’t make things for themselves. How about making her a cute mug rug quilt?
This is a great way to use up orphan blocks or leftover pieces.
Or use scrap strips, easy straight line quilting, add some binding and Ta-Done!
You could even add some loose tea and a pretty mug for a perfect Sunday afternoon retreat at home.
Oh- and maybe some homemade cookies????
Note: if you sign up for my newsletter, you get a free mug rug pattern! And if you are looking for a fun place to get some unique loose tea, click here!
Mother’s Day Gifts for Quilters: Kozy Q Scarf
This pattern is super easy!
You just need 4 fat quarters or 2 FQs and some fabric yardage or… the options are up to you!
You can use quilter’s cotton or double gauze, or a softer fabric like lawn, rayon or voile.
This group of double gauze will make an awesome summer scarf.
This one is my favorite scarfs that I have made. I mixed quilting cotton on one side with faux fur on the other. Perfect for winter!
This scarf is the one everyone wants when I wear it. So comfy and warm!
Mother’s Day Gifts for Quilters: Pincushions
A while back, Carrie Nelson came to visit a local quilt shop and I picked up her book on pincushions.
After that, I was inspired to use my braid scraps to make this pincushion.
I used leftover bits of fabric to make this pincushion.
I pieced this little block and turned it into a pincushion.
Pincushions are a fun small project to make a quilter and they come in handy. I have one on my cutting table, one on my sewing table, one on my ironing board…
You could make a new pincushion and give her some new pins to go with it. I don’t know about you, but my pins seem to slowly disappear over time.
Where do the pins go?????
Those are 3 quick and easy ideas for a Mother’s Day gift for a quilter.

I really like that mug rug–that’s what I should make for Mother’s Day!
I’d like to make a mug rug or placemats for a Mothers’ Day gift. Love the double gauze scarf too.
My mum loves scarves, so that would be my choice.
