Hi friends!
What are you up to today?
Today I am going to ice dye some fabric. Or maybe snow dye. We have a bunch of snow!
My local quilt guild is having demo night this month as our program. I thought it would be fun to demo something a little different so I am doing ice dyeing. I haven’t dyed fabric in a while- since my friend Marcia moved away. She and I had done a lot of dyeing together.
So I am going to do a little practice session, try a few different folding techniques and see what happens!
I recently posted that I was guest blogging over at McCall’s Quilting magazine. And the quilt I was blogging about was this one called Ring Around the Toesies.
It is a bed scarf – perfect for when you want to add a pop of color to your bed but don’t have time to make a whole quilt! It was a lot of fun to make- and quicker too!
It is in the Feb/March 2017 issue of McCall’s Quick Quilts. There are a lot of fun projects in this issue. Would you like a chance to win a copy?
Just leave a comment below for a chance to win. You have until Monday night Jan 9th at 9 PM (my time).
Giveaway is now closed.
And don’t forget to go to my post over at McCall’s Quilting blog and enter for a chance to win the goodie over there! That giveaway ends tomorrow, Jan 8th.
Off to the dollar store for last minute supplies and then to dye some fabric!
happy quilting,
Kate
I’ve never heard of ice dyeing … sounds interesting! Thanks so much for the giveaway.
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity. The ice dyeing sounds like fun! I’ll have to give it a try with my granddaughter, she loves to try new things with fabric and fiber.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Excited to hear more about the ice dying–sounds like something fun to try!
Love the bed runner or scarf! 🙂 Like the pattern very much.
Ice and snow dying–would make my neighborhood very colorful ;-). This is a technique I would like to learn.
Love your bedrunner! Have to make one for hubby. His feet are always cold.
Can’t wait to read more about the ice dyeing. I was looking at videos this week and suggested to my grandson that we need to try this technique. We’ve been dyeing T-shirts for 12-14 years in one form or another and haven’t tried this.
Wonderful giveaway. thanks for the opportunity.
I would enjoy a copy of the mag! i’ve never made a bed runner but it would definitely be something I could use!
I’d like to learn about ice dying even though I’d have to buy the ice since we don’t usually have it in south Texas! I’d love to win this because your pattern is wonderful!
Interesting to learn about ice dyeing. I’ve never heard of it before. Thank you for the giveaway. I needed an idea for a wedding gift that’s coming up quickly.
Beautiful colors. I have never tried the ice dying before. Looks like you will have some fun results. Looking forward to seeing how the guild does.
Ice and snow dying is very cool!! I love the results!!
I’m a bit intimidated with using powdered dyes. But I love the look. Have been playing with Rit and Dye-It and getting some good results. But ice and snow dying are very appealing!
Last time anyone dyed anything around here was when my husband put a red shirt in with his whites when doing his laundry… Need I say more?? Ice/Snow dying sounds like fun!!

I am so interested in snow dyeing fabric. It looks like a lot of fun. Love your bed scarf!! The pattern is beautiful!!
Great for foot warmers too!
Fabric dyeing sounds like something fun to learn! We have plenty of snow here too, so I’d be all about that! Your bed scarf is a beauty and is another project I’ve had on my to-do list for quite a while…it will get done someday!
A little extra color when I use my all white quilt would be terrific.
I have never tried dying anything at all. The ice dying sounds fun! Can’t wait to hear how it went for your guild.
THANK YOU for a sweet giveaway!
