Today I want to chat about PDF quilt patterns. But first, I want to share a great gift idea for a quilty friend- or for yourself!
Plan to Quilt
Plan to Quilt is a planner- just for all your quilt projects! It is not based on a monthly calendar; it is a way to document and plan all your quilt projects.
Here’s how it works:
It starts with a list, a place where you can document your projects as you start or even just as you dream of starting them. The line where you list each project is color coded.
As you start working on each project, planning the quilt, thinking about colors and picking the fabrics, you can go to the section for that quilt (use the color code) and document what you have done and what you need to do.
Ever forget if you bought binding for that certain quilt project? If you list what you have now, later you will be able to check – did I or didn’t I get binding fabric?
If you put all your information in the planner, you will know!
I started my planner for my current project, my November Mystery Quilt Along! I can’t show you the pattern or the blocks as it’s a mystery!
But this planner is a great way to get organized and keep track of all your projects. I have a bunch of quilts coming up so each one will get tracked in here. That way I will be able to look in one place and see where I am with each one.

PDF Quilt Patterns
PDF quilt patterns are a great way to get a pattern quickly. Plus you can save it to your computer so you can easily find it again.
But, every now and then, someone has trouble with a PDF. Here are a few tips to make the process easier!
- To get the pattern, you will have a link- on the order confirmation page and in the email you get after you order. So you will need to click on the link in one of those places! Most likely, the PDF will not just automatically open up on your computer, iPad, tablet or phone. You have to go find it! Every device is different BUT for me, on my computer, the PDF can be found in my Downloads folder, the same for my iPad and my phone… I find it is a little trickier to find the Downloads section on my phone.
- If you click the link, then can’t find the PDF so you click the link again and again, it will download 3 times. Then you can’t download it anymore! But, be assured, we want you to have the PDF. If you have exceeded your downloads and can’t find the pattern, first look around your computer or device; it is usually there somewhere! If you are still having trouble, email us and we will try to help.
- What if it won’t download? Here is where things get tricky. Downloads can be affected by the size of the pattern and the speed of your internet. We try to keep the file as small as possible (and we are currently updating old PDFs to be smaller file sizes) but if your internet connection slows, it can affect the process. Again, we are here to help! Email me if you are having trouble.
