Staying Connected and Upcoming Fall Quilting Events

August 26, 2020August 26, 2020 Post a comment

Hi friends!

Quilt Bee

Quilter’s love to work together. They have been working together for years- back in the day, there were times when quilters got together and quilted each other’s quilts under the large quilt frame.

Nowadays, quilters get together in different ways. They meet up at guild meetings, got to quilt shows and meet up to make donation quilts and go on quilt retreats! Well, maybe not so much in person in 2020!

But even with the challenges that have been presented to all of us this year, quilters are still finding ways to get together- sometimes it is just online! Recently I was able to speak at my local quilt guild via a Zoom meeting. It was great! And I have another meeting scheduled for October.

Back in June, I was able to teach at Ebony Love‘s very first online quilt retreat called Retreat from Home.

And I get to teach again at her fall virtual quilt retreat in September. These retreats are so good for me, not just because I get to teach, but because I can feel part of the quilt community. I work from home and that can be fun, but it can also be isolating at times.

The Best Fall Quilting Events to Add to Your Calendar:

Quilters’ Color Challenge with Kate and Jenny Kae

This week on Thursday, I am pairing up with a fellow quilt designer to host a series of 6 FB Live events. The series is called the Quilters’ Color Challenge with Kate and Jenny Kae. We are going to share a challenge we gave each other using 3 fabrics, 2 blocks and we will show the fabrics we added, the way we each colored our blocks and how we made them into 2 different quilts! should be fun!

While virtual events will not take the place of in-person events, right now, they can sure help us to feel connected. And it is so important to feel connected!

Fall Quilting Events: Plan for October

I have a lot of quilts to make this fall, but since my usual trip to Houston for Quilt Market in October is cancelled, I thought I should plan something for us to do together.

I could do a mystery quilt along.

Or I could plan a class (Zoom, not FB) to teach one of my patterns.

Or…????

Do you have an idea of what you would like me to offer?

I would love to hear from you what I should do!

I hope you are happy, healthy, able to connect with family, friends and other quilters during this crazy time and, as always…

happy quilting!
