Turnabout Patchwork Book Review

January 30, 2019January 12, 2024 72 comments

Hi friends!

Welcome to my post on the Turnabout Patchwork book blog hop!

Turnabout Patchwork Book Review featured by top US quilting blog and shop, Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs

Teresa has created this wonderful book, published by Martingale, which is all about simple blocks that you slice or twist to create new blocks!

Turnabout Patchwork Book Review featured by top US quilting blog and shop, Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs: pink, purple and green fabrics from the Hero fabric line
Hero fabric by Sandra Clemons for Michael Miller fabrics

The quilt I chose to play with is called Sweet Bows and I used some fabric from a line called Hero-  designed by my friend Sandra Clemons for Michael Miller Fabrics. This fabric is just great for the young lady in your life!

Turnabout Patchwork Book Review featured by top US quilting blog and shop, Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs: blocks with triangles

The blocks were just super easy to piece. I even made some leftover HST units as I pieced each block that I can now use for another project!

Leftover HST units- hmmm… what should I make with these?

Once I had my blocks made, I played around with the setting of the blocks.

My arrangement is slightly different from Teresa’s but that is the beauty of these blocks and quilts, you can rearrange and make YOUR design!

Sweet Bows

I love how the quilt came out!

Turnabout Patchwork Book Review featured by top US quilting blog and shop, Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs

So pretty!

And Lark approved as well.

Lark approved!

The hardest part was picking my quilting thread. I tried pinks, lavender, purples, …. and finally chose the darker of two threads you see here for the top and the lighter one for the bottom. It was perfect!

Picking thread

Well, the thread color was perfect; my quilting lines, even with my guide, were a little wobbly at times. And yes, I quilted it myself!

What a sweet quilt with the fabrics you chose. I’m thinking of some fabrics I have been saving; milk chocolate brown, teal, orange, light blue and cream co-ordinating fabrics with little pops of lime green. All in all 8 different fabrics in this collection that will play beautifully in this pattern with a cream background. I can see it now!
