Hi friends!
Welcome to my post on the Turnabout Patchwork book blog hop!
Teresa has created this wonderful book, published by Martingale, which is all about simple blocks that you slice or twist to create new blocks!
The quilt I chose to play with is called Sweet Bows and I used some fabric from a line called Hero- designed by my friend Sandra Clemons for Michael Miller Fabrics. This fabric is just great for the young lady in your life!
The blocks were just super easy to piece. I even made some leftover HST units as I pieced each block that I can now use for another project!
Once I had my blocks made, I played around with the setting of the blocks.
My arrangement is slightly different from Teresa’s but that is the beauty of these blocks and quilts, you can rearrange and make YOUR design!
I love how the quilt came out!
So pretty!
And Lark approved as well.
The hardest part was picking my quilting thread. I tried pinks, lavender, purples, …. and finally chose the darker of two threads you see here for the top and the lighter one for the bottom. It was perfect!
Well, the thread color was perfect; my quilting lines, even with my guide, were a little wobbly at times. And yes, I quilted it myself!
happy quilting,
Kate

What a sweet quilt! I would like to try these techniques. Looks like a great way to make a cute baby quilt.
I always love having little tidbits left over to make pot holders and mug rugs when I’m trimming out HST~
Since it’s going to be 15 degrees today, I think I’d pick nice spring time color combo and dream of spring. Thanks for sharing.
I would use seaglass colors, blues teals and greens. Thanks!
I love your quilt.
The colors you used are pretty. I think I might use blues and white.
Love this design! I would use grays and red to make a version for a special little boy!
Right now I love to work with hot colours – yellow, orange, magenta! So that’s what I’d chose.
I love simple designs like this for kids.
I would use the colors you used or maybe just shades of lavender and soft teal.
Love the colors you used. I am being drawn to black and white right now.
30th fabric, red and white, scraps. I think just about any fabric combination would work well.

I would use blue and greens to make this. This is a fun looking block!

I need to make a quilt for a great-nephew, so I think I might choose red and blue, maybe a nautical theme.
Blues or the sunny yellows/orange and tiny bit of red would work for a quilt I need to make
Love your colors, what a fun quilt!
I would go with pinks and lavenders – girly colors.
What a sweet quilt with the fabrics you chose. I’m thinking of some fabrics I have been saving; milk chocolate brown, teal, orange, light blue and cream co-ordinating fabrics with little pops of lime green. All in all 8 different fabrics in this collection that will play beautifully in this pattern with a cream background. I can see it now!
Your choices are very cute. It looks like it will be fun.
Cute quilt. I would use scraps and more rainbow colors.
I like the way you quilted Sweet Bows. It makes the bows look like they are floating. Great that you quilted it yourself.
Petty bow quilt!
Such a pretty quilt. I would make it in bright pinks, purples and greens with yellow background to remind me that the sun will come out in the spring and warm the earth. Besides, these are my little girl’s favourite colours! So cheery for her room!
Love your colors! Picked those for a junior high home ec room design project. (Dating myself, I know…)
We have sunshine and the temp is finally above zero today. The thick white blanket of snow covering our yard is beautiful but, with winter far from over, I could go for a bright rainbow of colors.
my favorites is red and white for me a new quilt
