Hi friends!
Today on the Text It! book blog hop I get to show you the pillow I made!
(If you are looking for the Adventure Quilt Block 6 post, click here!)
Now you can see Sherri’s pillow right there on the cover- the Pillow Talk pillow. I love the colors she used and I was tempted to use something similar. But I went into my stash and found some great blues and greens that would go perfectly in my living room.
My couch is a color I like to think of as sand and I have a beautiful water blue chair so basically, though I live in Colorado, I have a beach theme to my colors! You may take the girl away from the beach, but you can’t take the beach out of the girl!
Not only did I haven enough of the fabrics, I even had some wonderful white wool and this blue/green wool to use for my letters. The only thing I had to buy for this project was the green embroidery thread to outline the work Talk!
I hand embroidered my letters to my pillow because I like to hand embroider.
It has been awhile since have done any stitching like this by hand, so I was not as polished as I could have been, but hey! it’s done, it looks good and done is better than perfect! But you can machine stitch them down. Whatever works for you.
I quilted straight lines along the angles just using the edge of my walking foot as a guide and occasionally using a ruler or my favorite blue painter’s tape to stay on the straight and narrow! I didn’t go thru the letters; I just stopped and started a lot.
Love my pillow! Lark approved as well.
Sherri Noel from Rebecca Mae Designs wrote such a great book. There are a ton of awesome projects, all with fun sayings on them. I love that there are quilts, smaller projects like pillows and wall hanging so you have options.
And her tag line on the cover of the book- Quilts and Pillows with Something to Say. Love. Love. What a fun way to express yourself!

I like to make queen size quilts since my spare beds are queens. I love the pillows I’ve seen today!
Lap size quilts. I don’t have a quote yet, but looking for inspiration.
Love queen size and lap quilts. Hoping to brave a king next year. Favorite saying is “go explore” which I am putting on the dear daughter quilt i am currently doing
I love minquilt size – about 24×24 is the largest! Let’s me try new techniques, ideas, moat terns without huge amounts of fabric! Favorite quote – the best is yet to come!
My favorite size quilt is baby or lap size.
I like to make lap size quilts. Love the projects from this book.
My favorite size is a king size quilt.
I am noticing that Alphabets are getting to be popular again.
Large Lap 70×78 and matching pillows.
I like different alphabet patterns. I’d like to applique names onto my baby quilts …
Love your colors. They are beachy! My favorite size quilt to make is twin only because that’s easy for me to quilt on my machine without a struggle.
I love small projects (wall hangings) I love that you used wool and cotton background! very nice
Your pillow looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I like to make every size from mini to Queen but baby quilts are probably my favourite. Thanks for the contest and inspiration!
I like to make throw size quilts best.
i love making baby and throw quilts; they go together so fast and still pack a big wallop
I like to make lap quilts or wall hangings. Instead of a quote, I chose a word each year and would like to add my word “opportunity” to something quilted. (Now I wish I had chosen a shorter wor) Thanks for the “opportunity” to win.
Lap size quilt are now my favorite size after making several king and Queen size.
Thanks for the wonderful thread giveaway.
My favorite size is lap. So around 48×60 to 50×70.
My favorite quilts to make are lap quilts as they are easier to manipulate and come together quicker.
Just how cute!
I’m going to mess up both of these quotes, because I would need to look them up, but I would make pillows with these:
Dumbledore to Harry Potter “It’s our choices….” when talking about the sorting hat.
Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh “Promise me you’ll always remember– you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

My favorite sizes are usually baby/lap sizes. 45×60. They’re great sizes to grow with a baby, and great for lap quilts and napping, even for adults. It also seemed to be about as big as my Bernina could handle when quilting. Now I don’t need to worry about that as much, now that I have a Handiquilter longarm!

My favourite size quilt to make is a baby/crib size. Enough space to try something new but not so big that I have to make a huge commitment to something that may not work.
I love your pillow – the colors are awesome and I love wool. My favorite size is around 40×40 wall hanging.
I like the standard and queen sized quilts. Lots of warm cuddles. My favorite quote is Bloom where you are planted, but that is a big long for a pillow.
I like lap or throw size as they are easy for me to handle quilting on my home machine. The larger sizes I do on a long arm I rent at the quilt shop. Love your hand embroidered words. Gives another texture and dimension to the pillow.
I love your beach coloured pillow 🙂
I like how quickly baby and lap quilts go together but have also loved the feeling of accomplishment of finishing king and queen sized.
My favorite to make are the Baby Charity Quilts! Thank You!
I like to make pillow size as a way of practicing a variety of blocks and feeling like I complete a project.
I like to make large throw/twin sized quilts. I’m tall and like my throws to be big enough to snuggle completely under on the couch!
The color choices of the fabric for your pillow makes it so sweet! I have been working with lap size quilts so far, my favorite size!
I prefer large wall quilts (which may also be used as a lap quilt) to keep the quilt hangers nice and warm, and vary my wall decor.
I attempt larger quilts but find I am most satisfied making smaller items like baby quilts, table runners and table toppers. I am not so overwhelmed that way.
My favorites are pillows, table toppers and runners so I can try different techniques. Love the word ‘home’ that could be added to quilted items.
I love making lap quilts. And my favorite word would be Joy!
I usually make lap quilts so I can quilt them on my domestic machine
I like to make queen-sized quilts.
I make a variety of quilts, from small art quilts to king size! Of course the smaller they are the faster they are to make. Love your pillow! It’s a keeper. I still want to make this saying on a quilt one day: Love the people God gave you because he will need them back someday.
I like twin bed size – to me that is more useful.
I like full or queen size quilts as a rule–but also enjoy throw size as they are quicker.
My mom always used to sing a song that was popular when she was younger that went, “It’s a lovely day today…” I would love to make a quilt that said that, and add some flowers, maybe some birds and pinwheels, and have a very carefree, happy, sunshiney quilt to remind me of my mom warbling that song, something she did virtually every day.
I like mostly all size of quilts; however, I love throw quilts. They are so nice on the couch in the winter months. Thank you.
i make throws now; bed sizes are harder for me to handle now…I’m older!!!
Thank you.
I like to make full sized quilts and baby quilts of course!
I love baby quilt size! Who doesn’t love to make something for a sweet new baby ❤️ It’s funs to personalize with their name and birthdate.
I like to make generously sized throws best. My family loves them too!
I like to make bed size quilts.
I love making mug rugs. I also like to do table runners and placemats.
I make lap quilts as gifts, usually, but have made all sizes. I am making more pillow covers and mini quilts recently. One of my fave quotes is “Bloom where you are planted”
I am big fan of baby quilts or a nice lap quilt…I have seen quilts with names or sayings appliqued on them …Haven’t done one yet but it’s on my bucket list…
I like to make lap and queen size quilts. Alas, my kids all have king size beds!
I like to do just about any size. I just finished 2 Kings and a Twin. Going to try some lap quilts next. Love your pillow.
I prefer to make a lap to twin size so much easier to handle. That said I have 3 kings waiting for me to put binding on right now.
Lap or twin seem to be the most versatile with the bonus of getting them done a bit quicker.
I’m making smaller quilts for the walls in my sewing room
Your pillow is delightful! I like to sew lap size quilts because they make such nice gifts. But now I’m thinking about a pillow. Thanks for the inspiration!
Some really great projects in that book. I love to sew potholders and runner, but actually I always end up with double size bed quilts for some reason. And I love Aurifil Thread.
The size of quilt that I sew the most is lap sized, but I use them as table cloths and usually make matching curtains for my kitchen window. Thanks!
Most of my quilts are double to queen size.
For me the baby/crib size quilt is so fun to make.
I like to make lap/snuggle sized quilts – less time to make, and they get a lot of use!
My favorite size of quilt to make is queen size so the pattern is really showcased. Lately though I seem to be in a round of baby, king size, baby, king size, baby as the needs for family and friends quilts arise. I think I need to make a pillow for my chair with “No,” on it!
Don’t like to make one bigger than a queen but have three kids that have king sized beds so I do them to
My favorite size quilt is the lap quilt size. I do a couple larger ones each year but only because they always have different blocks (I get bored easily). I could never do a huge quilt with the same block!
Lap size quilts are my favorite to make and to give as a gift. This looks like a fun book!
I do table runners, baby quilts and throw sizes. Carpe diem!
I like to make baby to lab size quilts.
I currently like to make small projects like table toppers, place mats, bags, etc., but would like to start finishing larger projects.
I like to make queen sized quilts!
Most of my quilts are made for preemie, stillborn, and full term babies… they go to either the hospital or homeless shelters.
I like crib size baby quilts because I can get done before I loose the creative spark!
Thanks for hosting these great giveaways 🙂
I like to yo BIG!!! King sized…enough for super sized snuggles.
I have seen some amazing projects. Would love to win this book! I like to make throw and baby quilts
Since my domestic machine has a small throat, I usually like to make table runners or small wall hangings and quilt those myself. Your postings have given me a great idea that I would like to do.
I like lap quilts because they are used more often.
I like to make lap quilts because they are faster to complete. I would probably make an inspirational wall hanging or pillow for my son’s room.
