Gratitude
Some days it is easy to forget about the good things. I didn’t want to let this holiday season go by without telling you all how grateful I am to you. To those of you who read my blog posts and newsletters, those who purchase from my website or take my classes: thank you.
I am profoundly grateful that you spend some of your time and your quilting budget with me.
Free Pattern for post mastectomy patients
Recently a friend approached me as she wanted to write a pattern for a post mastectomy vest made from a T-shirt. The vest makes it easy to corral those pesky drains while being easy to put on and take off. She was making a couple of the camisoles for a family member going through this and thought it would be great to make the pattern available to others as well. Being a breast cancer survivor herself she knows the needs of a patient post mastectomy.
She asked me if I could hep her format the pattern and get it out in the world. Of course I said yes! It took a while to get it done but it is on my website, on the Tips and Tutorial page. The pattern is all Marybeth’s; I just put it together with her images and gave it a home to live on the internet.
Click here to check out the Comfort Camisole pattern. Please let anyone who might need this know where it is!
A year of Firsts!
This year has been especially exciting for me – the year my first digital fabric line, Blooming, hit the stores, the year my first batik fabric line, Paisley Got Mod, came out and the first year I opened a shop on Society 6 and had some of my designs on actual products!
I called the collection Winter Rose. I put a few of the designs on mugs and notebooks.
If you click on the image, using my affiliate link, it will take you to Society 6. You can see the mug and all the other designs I uploaded there!
How fun! I love a good notebook! Society 6 is a great place to find lots of unique designs on mugs, notebooks, pillows, phone cases and more. There are so many designs to choose from designers of all different styles and genres.
I have so enjoyed learning to do new things like design fabric and designs to put on other products and I hope to do more in the future.
Gratitude giveaway!
In honor of all the exciting things that happened this year, and in honor of all of you who support me and my business, it’s time for the last giveaway of the year! Normally I just do a fabric giveaway when a line first comes out but… since this year it’s MY fabric, I decided to do one last FQ bundle giveaway of BOTH Blooming and Paisley Got Mod!
To be entered for a chance to win one of these bundles, leave a comment on this blog post. You can leave any comment you want, but maybe you could tell me one good thing that happened for you this year or one thing you are grateful for? I would love to hear about you!
Giveaway is open to US only. Sorry but shipping cost are so much right now 🙁 .
Giveaway entry ends Monday night December 19th at 9pm MT (MT means Mountain Time or My Time -haha! )

*for you
Wow, me.
Both of these fabric collections are bright, happy and sooo modern. I appreciated the Sisterhood sew along in 2022. I need to rework the partial seam blocks but this one won’t be a UFO for long. I’m grateful for the simpler life I’m working toward by not working so hard at it. Lol!

This year I’m grateful that my oldest son got married to a wonderful woman that I love. I’m grateful that I was able to finish the Sisterhood quilt and gift it to a friend when she was going through a very difficult time. I’m grateful for a group of friends, who I see rarely, but when we get together once a year we are able to pick up as if we’d just seen each other the day before. And mostly I’m grateful for a loving husband who supports me in all the crazy project I get myself into (from making quilts to rewiring the Christmas tree).
I’m thankful that both of my daughters and grandson will be here for Christmas! Also thankful that I finished a quilt for my younger daughter in time for Christmas!
There is so much going on right now. Friends who have husbands that are sick, friends who are sick, people who have medical issues, but through it all we need to keep in mind what we are grateful for. I intend leave a journal in the kitchen, so when something pops into my mind, I can immediately write down what I am grateful for. My friend wanted to start keeping a gratitude journal and I think I will give her an early Christmas present. This way we can do it together.
I just love your fabrics! And the design on the mug is so sweet!
I am grateful for my husband who has put up with me for the last 50 years. He is supportive in quilting passion. And I am thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ came into this world and died on the cross to save us from our sins.
Beautiful thoughts and fabric. Thank you
I’m grateful for every day! I have the love of a wonderful man and our daughters, their husbands and my beautiful grandchildren. I’m so lucky to be able to get up every day and if I want I can sew. I’m scheduled for back surgery on the third of January and I hope to finish any more quilts. I appreciate the generosity of you Kate and the many others. Thank you.
I am grateful that I have the time, resources and ability to sew as it has added a lot of joy to my life and (I’m pretty sure) to the lives of some others when I give them handmade gifts. A great way to learn new ideas.
Blessings and prosperity for a wonderful year to everyone. Kate, I love both of your fabric lines! Hard to choose, but the paisley would be great for projects.
I’m grateful that my two sons in Florida survived the hurricane with no damages to their homes. I’m thankful that my daughter and her two daughters moved back close to me. I’m very grateful for all my Quilting friends who have helped me through the loss of my husband in 2020.

I am grateful for my home, health, family and for the being able to meet all my basic needs and so much more; I intend to give more of everything this both physically and responsibly to improve the world in any small ways I possibly can.
Thank you.
This has been a year where I have counted my blessing over and over. After going through a extensive workup for a possible lung cancer ( I am a non-smoker), there came good news I did not have it. I thank you for your clear and easy to follow patterns. They gave me a place to go to where I could focus on what was just in front of me. Thank you! Merry Christmas.
I’m lucky enough to get up each morning with the opportunity to see all the surprising things that come along with every day, and I truly appreciate that. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your fabrics, your knowledge, and support
When my husband and I moved to this neighborhood most of the neighbors were our age, now “older” and starting to move away – which means new people moving in – the average age is 41! And KIDS all over the place! We even had a block party that lasted until the wee hours, then we all had BREAKFAST together. My husband passed this last year and all these people have helped me through this just by saying hi, letting me know they are here. And seeing all these kids, the Circle of Life. I am so grateful. Thanks for asking.
What a beautiful blessing to you, Joan, to be surrounded by lively neighbors who care about you and are supporting you as you adjust to your loss.
I am both grateful and thankful for the birth of my first grandchild.
So much to be grateful for! One unexpected blessing of the year was allowing my husband to talk me into trying running just one more time. (Long history of knee injuries in the past.) For the first time in my 65 years, I’m not only enjoying this sport I can share with my spouse, but I’m competing in 5Ks monthly. Getting healthier and feeling more confident are some nice side effects of this new activity.
Grateful for another year to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Thankful all my children and grandchildren will be together for Christmas which has not been possible since 2019.

I am so grateful just to be alive and enjoying my life. Health issues nearly took my life several years ago, but during the recovery process I learned that thankfulness drives out a heart of despair. I am also grateful for you, Kate, and your generous spirit in sharing so much of your quilting knowledge with us! Congratulations on your wonderful year of firsts!
I am grateful to be able to see the beauty of trees and of light in all seasons and times of day.
I have many things to be grateful for, but most recently, my public speaking students finished up tribute speeches, in which they paid tribute to someone important to them. I have had the privilege of listening to them tell wonderful heartfelt stories about parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, medical personnel, and even dogs. It’s been a heart-warming three days.
I am gratefull for the worldwide quilting community that has become my therapy to cope with breast cancer, heart surgery & the recent news that my wonderful husband of 41 years has stage 4 liver cancer. the generosity of quilt designers with wonderful patterns, beautiful fabrics and fun giveaways to inspire us!

Although it’s been a tough year, healthwise, for some family members, including my husband, I’m grateful that they are on the mend. I’m hoping the new year will bring more favorable news on the health front.
Thank you for these generous fat quarters giveaways! Merry Christmas!
My heart is full of gratitude for my family. I lost my mom this year. She suffered from Alzheimers. I was able to spend 4 days talking, praying and laughing with her. Although I had not seen her in a couple of months she recognized me which lifted my heart. I care for her in her final days and I was there to supported my dad and siblings. She had a long and beautiful life and so much of who I am is because of her love and example. I miss her physical presence but I talk to her often and I know I will see her again.
I am grateful for my family. Grateful that everyone has made it thru this year between chemo, covid, and diagnosis’s.
I am also grateful that the arthritis in my hands has not stopped me from quilting by hand.
I’m grateful for the blessings that have been bestowed on my family.
Thank you for this giveaway. Wishing you a Happy Holiday.
I am thankful for wonderful friends and family. I’ve been blessed with another sweet grandnephew this year. My husband has a terrific job he loves. My youngest son is doing fantastic in college and is home right now for the holiday season. I finished the quilt I designed for my oldest daughter (3 years in the making). Good neighbors are always looking out for us. A great church family where the youth group visits shut-ins like myself (They were just here today caroling for me and bringing gifts). Yes, I have been blessed.
I am grateful for the doors that opened allowing me to move back to my hometown and buy the house next door to my 88 & 87 year old parents. It is a joy to share their lives while they are healthy and young at heart, and I love being here to help as needed. Plus, I am turning my mom (an expert garment sewist) into a quilter.
I am grateful that I have time to sew and that I have inspiration every day by just looking out my window.
There is so much to be grateful for each and every day: my husband and his improved health, my daughter, so thoughtful and kind, my son, who now is a recovering alcoholic, my grand daughters and my wonderful 5year-old great grandson. Each day I am grateful for just waking up ready to enjoy another day.
Kate, what two beautiful bundles! Thank you for the opportunity to win.
I’m just thankful to live another year, as I wake every morning. I’ve had a few friends die this year, and another just diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, a real shock. She’s my longest known friend, quilter, seamstress, crafter extraordinaire that I’ve known, 45 years. My mother will be 93 in 2 weeks, and I hope to be able to live that long to everything and anything I’ve yet to do. I’m grateful my 5 siblings are still alive, and I get to talk to them or correspond with them daily and weekly.
If I win either of these beautiful bundles, I’d love to use it in a lap quilt I will be designing to give to her to use with her upcoming radiation and chemo treatments. I can’t not imagine her in my life even tho she’s 7 years older than me. Love knows no boundaries, and generations.
I am very thankful for my friends and family and their health. It has been a very rough few years but together we make it through ( and with faith!) Thank you for your generosity and wishing you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!
I am grateful for my dog who, keeps me amused and coffee which keeps me from committing felonies. 😉
Lots to be thankful for in this crazy world. Sewing soothes the soul!
I am so grateful for recently retiring.
I have put 30 years in at Walmart.
I love give aways!
Our project raised over $22,000 this year and $29,250 since Aug. 2021! All to help Wishes come true and to give joy to the Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Cancer Association. We make quilts and auction them off – all from donated fabrics and quilts from all across the nation. Our hearts are full of so much gratitude and joy. Please don’t hesitate to become a member. Also, we would be honored to receive quilts to help the Magic happen. https://www.facebook.com/groups/391673602349315
We were able to see all 4 of our granddaughters this year.
Grateful for spending the final months with my mother.
It is so kind of you to giveaway a bundle. It has been a sad year for me too many losses. I am looking on the bright side. I am here, still quilting and will drop off 15 quilts next week to our local Oncology unit. That is a blessing. I’m excited.

Thank you for the chance to win your beautiful fabric.
This year I met my fiancé. I am 40, and have never wanted to fall in love or get married, and then I met him, and my whole life changed and he showed me what caring in action looks like. We are best friends, and partners, and I love him very much. I am beyond grateful for his patience and love.
I am grateful for my sewing room, even though it means going up the hill to turn on the propane heater for 30 minutes to take the chill off; it will be finished next spring.
There are so many things we have to be thankful for. The first that came to mind is our grandchildren. We have quite a few.; each of them bring something new and different to the family. Then my husband and I will be retiring soon. Yippee! There will be more free time for hobbies, traveling, visiting friends and enjoying the grandkids! I have quilted since before I was a teenager and am grateful for all the new quilt tools, gorgeous fabrics, I especially love those batiks, and inspirational quilting and sewing bloggers and teachers. Technology has made learning so much easier! Yeats ago if you wanted to learn something new you would check a book out of the library. If they didn’t have it you would submit a request and wait two weeks for it to arrive. Lol Now all it takes is an online search! We are blessed. Years ago I started a gratitude journal and am glad I did.
