Hi friends~
What a summer! Between the packing up of our townhouse, the temporary move to an apartment (well, not so temporary- we will be here for over a year!), trying to find places to put everything (including things packed into a storage unit and at a friend’s house!) some days I don’t know which end is up!
How was your summer? I hope you did something more fun!
Summer
There were some great moments this summer in spite of all the hard work of the move. I got to see a couple of my kids in June for a break. We met up in Connecticut at my daughter’s house and while I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would like there, I did get a picture of the beach!
And here are Sean and Alyssa at her farm- we ate some lovely, fresh off the farm organic beets one night!
And we explored an antique mall- look at those sewing machines!
I also went to the Botanic Gardens- so lovely any time of year!
The Quilt Show
I also had the opportunity to tape a segment for The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Timms. So fun! I shared my Braid Template and showed Alex how to cut and sew the braids using my ALMOST Good Proof method!
I used my new fabric line Winged Things for the step outs and samples on set. Don’t they look great?
The fabric will be out in stores late this year- I can’t wait!
I am not sure when my episode will air, but I will keep you posted!
Sail Away
I did managed to get some sewing in this summer and finished my so stinking’ cute pink Sail Away quilt!
Did you make a Sail Away quilt?
If you need any help, here is a link to my blog post on the half rectangle triangle units that make up the small sail and the post on how to make half square triangle units. The large sails are HSTs.
I also made some other quilts (that I can’t show you yet!) but soon! So many fun new patterns are coming to the website soon!
Fall Sale
And I plan to have a sale soon. My one and only big fall pattern sale. I figure quilters don’t really need a Black Friday sale for quilt patterns- they need time to make those holiday gifts!
I will post more about in my newsletter this weekend. Do you get my newsletter? If not, be sure to sign up and get the free pattern.
Newsletter sign up is in the side bar of the blog!
I hope you had a lovely, fun filled summer and are looking forward to the cool, crips days of fall. The fall colors are such an inspiration and taking a picture of fall leaves would make a great color palette for a quilt!
happy quilting!
Kate
p.s.
Have you heard of the BOM called The Potting Table? It is run by Rachel Rossi and each month she also has sponsors that help out with prizes for those who make the blocks! This month, I am one of her sponsors. The quilt is adorable and would be a perfect quilt to make this fall!
p.p.s. Are you coming on the quilting cruise with me next March? It should be FUN!
There is still time to sign up and order your kit to make the quilt. Click here to learn more.
