A new year??? It’s not January 1.
But to me, the day after Labor Day has always had the same feel as New Years.
A new year, a new start. I think that is because when I was a kid, we always started school on the day after Labor Day. I don’t know if that is really true, but it is how I remember it.
Now my kids are grown and so no one in my family is heading back to school. Well, except for my son in law who is a teacher. Still, the day after Labor Day makes me feel like I need to buy pencils, notebooks and penny loafers. I love new notebooks, new pencils… new pens… new books… a fresh start.
I had taken a small hiatus from the blog this summer but I am back, ready for a fresh start this fall. I know, I know- it is not officially fall yet, but it is fall to me. I have been busy this summer- working on designs and making quilts. It’s what I do!
I have been preparing for Quilt Market. In October, I am going to Houston to Quilt Market, the wholesale trade show that is in the days right before the huge quilt show, International Quilt Festival. It is where I will have a booth, #1202, and I plan to show off all my new stuff and encourage quilt shops to carry my patterns.
Over the next 2 months I will introduce a BUNCH of new patterns. I am really excited about this. Each time I introduce a new pattern, I will give you all a code to buy it from me for a few days at a discount.
To get the party started, I am offering ZigZagNoli for $1.00 off until September 11th. She is not a brand new pattern, but she is only a couple of months old! I originally introduced her here in this post.
I love this version of her- it is the lap size.
Love, love, love it! The colors, the quilting, everything about it just makes me smile.
The pattern has 3 sizes and it whips up fast! Use the code ZigZag to get the pattern for $1 off until Sunday. Click here to get started.
My latest magazine pattern, Garden Boxes, is in the McCall’s Quick Quilts October/November issue.
Actually, it is on the cover!
It is always so exciting to see your quilt on the cover of a magazine. And to celebrate, I have a copy to give away.
The fabric line I used is called Gardening and it was designed by Dinara Mirtalipova for Windham Fabrics. It has these great chickens, carrots, cats and just fun images. AND, as an added bonus, I have a 1/2 yard each of the orange chicken fabric and the light blue and yellow florals to get you started on your own Garden Boxes quilt. How fun!
Leave a comment on this post to be entered for a chance to win. And, as always, my newsletter readers get a second chance- IF you leave a second comment.
Contest closes Sunday September 11th at 9pm my time.
Giveaway is now closed! Thanks to everyone who commented. Good luck!
happy quilting,
Kate
