Hi friends!
How are you? I just got back from Quilt Market in Houston and it always seems those few days I am away make a huge difference in the seasons. The leaves are now gone from most of the trees and there is a chill in the air.Brrr.
But boy did I have fun in Hoston! I did not have a booth this time, so I was able to walk around the show and visit with my designer friends in their booths, take a couple of classes and actually see some of the amazing quilts in the exhibits.
Plus, the energy in Houston was so great! Having the World Series games going on while we were there made the whole area seem doubly alive. One night there was a big tv screen in the grassy area in the middle of the street with all these people watching the game on their folding chairs… and, just was we came out of the restaurant after dinner, the Astros scored a run and the group went crazy!
I am sure the town was going nuts last night as the Astros won the World Series for the first time. Ever. I am glad for Houston- the city could use some happy energy!
While I did not have a booth at Market, my new pattern, Pack it Up! was in evidence at the show! I had the cover bags in a distributors booth and one in Island Batik’s booth in the line Blue Moon by Kathy Engle for my friend Jackie Kunkel.
Love it paired with the black cork fabric.
Then I had one in Michael Miller’s booth. It was in my friend Sandra Clemon’s section using her new fabric line called Believe.
Love how I was able to fussy cut the unicorns.
And I was carrying a bag around filled with stuff and I was able to snap a photo with Tula Pink as the bag had her fabric in the top and on the back! How fun was that? She was so nice to do that for me.
So enough about me… how about you? Are you getting into the pre holiday mode? Making, buying, planning for those holidays coming up? How can I help?
I do have the Pack it Up! bag pattern, MINI Braid Template and bag hardware up on my website for you. It really is a fun pattern and not hard to make. Even with a zipper! It will make great gifts for your quilty (or even non quilty!) friends. I have a bundle that includes the pattern, template and bag hardware at a discount. Click here to check it out.
If you are a Colorado local, I am teaching the Pack it Up! bag as a class at Sew-ciety in Castle Rock, CO on Sat Nov 25th from 10am -2pm. So you can get a jump on making some holiday gifts!
And for my friends in Connecticut, I am teaching my Christmas Card wall hanging pattern- Tannenbaum Trio– at Yankee Quilter in Seymour on Dec 10th from 10am -2pm. Come play with me!
Later this month, I am going to be part of the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine blog hop and I have a couple of other projects that are out in magazines to show you and I am planning on putting some of my past magazine quilts up for sale.
I have recently donated a few of my quilts and now I am going to sell a few. These will be the original quilts from the magazines, in pristine shape and professionally quilted. I will keep you posted when the quilts are ready for sale. They will make great gifts for a really special someone (maybe for you?).
I was thinking about making it a Black Friday offer but I may do it earlier than that. That is such a busy weekend already for many people. What do you think?
I need to do a little sewing today and get back into the groove. I have a quilt partly cut out that I can play with and another quilt deadline coming soon so I have to make sure I have that one figured out before I cut into the fabric!
happy quilting!
Kate
