Hi friends!
It’s time to reveal the April quilt block fabrics and the block we are going to remix!
The April Quilt Block
The block this month is the flower basket. A very traditional looking block!
Sometimes very specific blocks, like this one and last month’s tulip blocks, are such a specific shape or recognizable motif, it can be hard to see past the motif and find ways to remix it.
I am going to have to spend some time with this one, trying to see what I want to pull out, or hang up or… hmmm.
Next month, I am speaking at my local quilt guild here in Colorado and I am teaching a class on remixing blocks. it’s a fun topic- looking at how to start, how to pick fabrics, when to pick fabrics (!), just really giving tips on the basics of how to approach taking a block and mixing it up!
By now I have had some experience…
The Fabrics
This month I am using my Breezy fabrics! this is my latest batik line with Island Batik and I have been dying to use them in a block remix! Now that the fabric is out in the wild and shipping to stores, I can start to share more about it!
If you missed the recent post about Breezy, click here. But sorry, the FQ giveaway is closed!
For my remix, I wanted to skip the greens in the line and just stay with the oranges, reds and purples. And yes, this line has a bit more of a “fall” feel, but I like it so much! I just had to play with it!
Next week I will share my first sneak peek and a bit of the process I used to remix this block.
happy quilting!
