Hi friends!
Today I wanted to share a new favorite tool in my quilt studio: the Omnigrid Rotating Cutting Mat!
I had an old, smaller square rotating mat that had gotten a little chewed up and it didn’t rotate easily. So I basically stopped using it.
Then I saw this one and thought, yes! So I treated myself to this new rotating mat and I love it! First, the mat is not all beat up!
Second, the mat has the cool edges that make it easy to turn the mat. And it stays in place. My old mat would slide around when I used it and this one stays right where I put it!
I like to use it to cut when using templates, like these for a drunkard’s path block…
Or when trimming down HTS units….
Instead of just telling you how I use the Omnigrid Rotating Cutting Mat, I thought I would show you. So I created this short little video, click play for my demo!
Enjoy!
Happy quilting,
Kate
Love it!! I have a square one (don’t remember the brand) and I really like using it. But I see another advantage to the round one besides the notched edges. When I rotate my square one, the points of the square can sweep my area clear of whatever might be in the way of the corners of the square mat. You don’t have that problem with a round one! Nifty!
Kathleen,
It really is a nifty mat. I also like how it stays in place and rotates very easily. I had a small square one that was hard to rotate and moved around when I did rotate it.
