Hi friends!
Many of you may be participating in my latest Quilt Along- Sisterhood!
(If not you can still sign up to get the newsletters- to make the quilt you need the pattern. Links to all below!)
Sisterhood- the quilt
A quilt I designed along with Tammy Silvers of Tamarinis, Sisterhood has 30 quilt blocks and 3 different quilt sizes and settings! The quilt celebrates women who have been an important and influential part of our lives. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters and friends who are our support system.
Women who have supported us, nurtured us, laughed and cried with us. Women who are valued and loved.
We have taken 30 quilt blocks and renamed them with the names of all these wonderful women. During the quilt along, we are telling stories about them.

The Stories
Little did I know when I named one of Week 1’s blocks after my mother in law, that I would be getting ready to get on a plane to go to her funeral. She passed away last Friday and her funeral is next Monday.
Here is what I shared in the newsletter:
Peg is my mother in law. And while this block was originally called the eccentric star, Peg is not eccentric. Peg is a force of nature; she raised 7 children, 4 of them boys and kept them in line with a look and a pink slipper. She was a great cook and learned how to feed a crowd on a moment’s notice. These days, she’s 93, still a little feisty, lives in assisted living and lets others cook for her. She’s deserves it!
But Peg was more than that; she was the grande dame, the matriarch of the family. She loved her kids fiercely while always expecting a higher standard of behavior from them. She had a sarcastic sense of humor at times and was an amazing gardener. My daughter (an organic farmer) inherited her love of plants from her.
I will be heading to CT tomorrow to celebrate a strong woman who lived a full life!
Sisterhood
Sisterhood is a feeling, a concept about shared experiences, empathy, and support; it is about being there for those you care about, about supporting their choices (even when you don’t agree!) and holding them up when they are feeling down or life has given them a hit.
In the quilt along newsletters, I am so enjoying hearing Tammy’s sisterhood stories but also the stories from all our quest designers. Truly an honor to share them.
I have to go pack, but I hope if any of you need a hug, some support or just a kind word, that you have a supportive group of friends and family. And here is my virtual hug to you! Wrap yourself in a quilt and have a cup of tea; I’ve got your back.
happy quilting!
