Hi friends!
Welcome to my day on the Around the Block US Tour where I share my Connecticut state quilt block!
I already shared a block for Vermont, the state where I went to college, in this post.
Today I am sharing a block for my home state of Connecticut!
One of my favorite places to go when I am back in my home state, is to go see family and friends! And that happens all over the state!
Next is the beach. I love hanging out by the water. Connecticut beaches can be rocky and they are primarily on Long Island Sound but it doesn’t mean they don’t get some waves! But, being by the water is my zen place.
There are other fun places to go in Connecticut. There are many hiking trails; one state favorite is Sleeping Giant in Hamden, which is my hometown! And when you get to the top, you can play in the castle.
There are other great places to hike all year but they are really pretty in the fall.
But, even in the winter hiking can be beautiful.
And there are wonderful farms and gardens.
My daughter is the assistant manager of Massaro Farms- an organic vegetable farm in Woodbridge that runs a CSA every year.
My block was created to honor the shoreline of Connecticut. My 2 sisters live in the shore town of Old Saybrook- best known for their most famous resident Katherine Hepburn! They also have 2 lighthouses and these are depicted in my block.
The background of my block is pieced and then I fused the lighthouse pieces on top.
Click here for my PDF to make your own Connecticut State quilt block!
Note: the block is listed in my shop and you will have to go through “check out”. But the block is complimentary and you will not be charged.
If you need any help making your block, I have a post about making HST units and one about fusible appliqué!
happy quilting!
Kate

Thank you for the block and for sharing a little about your state.
Lori,
You’re welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Your website won’t let me get the pattern in my cart. The state quilt block tour.
Robin,
There shouldn’t be any reason you can’t put the block into your cart and check out! I’m not sure why that is happening. I will email you to see if I can help you complete the order.
HAVE to sign up for newsletter?
You do not have to sign up for my newsletter to get the block. You just need to click on the link for the block and go through checkout. There will be no charge in checkout.
I can not down load the block as there is no place on my screen to move your page down to the relevant information . I love the block and would like to get it.
Marge,
To scroll down on the Shopify page, just use the up and down arrows on your keyboard or the scroll button on your mouse. It is a weird function of the shop template that it does not show a slider arrow on the screen!
Kate I have been trying to download your block from Around the block I get a far as getting it ordered but can’t finish I just go in circles is there another link I could use any help would be appreciated Pat R
Pat,
